About the job
External Lecturer
At the Institute for Public Health, a number of three-year external lectureships are available for appointment as of January 2027 or thereafter. As an external lecturer you will mainly be responsible for teaching on general medical courses in the bachelor’s and master's programmes in medicine.
There may, by agreement, also be teaching on other courses.
As an external lecturer you must be able to plan and conduct teaching independently as well as carry out the accompanying examinations and other evaluations.
You will be introduced to the form and content of the teaching by the department's course leaders and will be offered ongoing supervision.
The position is described in the Bekendtgørelse om stillingsstruktur for videnskabeligt personale ved universiteter BEK nr. 1443 af 11/12/2019 and in the Aftale om eksterne lektorer ved universiteter m.fl. under Uddannelses- og Forskningsministeriet.
Qualifications
The qualification requirement is a master's level degree and either
- Relevant professional experience at a high level that has not been obtained through a university scientific appointment, or
- Appointment in a scientific principal position at another university than the University of Copenhagen
Teaching qualifications are included in the assessment of the applicants.
If you are employed on the basis of your relevant professional experience, you must have in-depth, current knowledge of the subject/field’s applications. This is obtained through employment within the subject/field.
Since teaching qualifications are included in the assessment framework, you must provide information about previous teaching activity. Everyone who teaches must prepare and continuously maintain a teaching portfolio.
Salary and other terms of employment
Salary and other terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC on external lecturers at universities and the like under the Ministry of Education and Research.
The appointment is time-limited to 3 years.
The working time associated with teaching may not exceed 500 hours per year. If necessary for the planning or execution of teaching, the working time may amount to up to 780 hours per year.
The hourly wage per hour is DKK 314.49 plus holiday allowance (the actual hourly pay is adjusted with a preparation factor relative to the specific teaching, e.g., a factor of 3.5 for lectures).
