Extroverted church and culture staff member

We are looking for an outgoing, listening and present church and culture staff member for Sankt Hans Church in Odense. The position is on average 26 hours per week. There may be a possibility for a few more hours in a two-year project period, just as the parish council is also open to requests for fewer hours.

Job description

As our new church and culture staff member you will for the time being have particular responsibility to continue the following tasks:

Wednesday cafe primarily used by people of pension age

• Visiting service, where you recruit and support the volunteers, and match people in need of visits with volunteers
• Teaching of mini-confirmands
• Co-responsibility for children's corner and Super Sunday together with the church's other church and culture staff member
• Co-responsibility for the organization of an evening church for young people one Friday a month

Furthermore you will participate in various events such as H.C. Andersen Week and visits by school classes.

You must be prepared that the tasks may change, e.g. as a result of the visions and strategies determined by the parish council.

The activities fall both during the week and at times during Sunday’s high mass. You will work closely with our current church and culture staff member as well as the priests, the other staff and volunteers.

The parish council emphasises that the staff in the church each see themselves as part of a team. In particular, we want close cooperation between our two church and culture staff members, so that they can enrich, inspire and complement each other in the tasks.

Who are you?

Your personal competences are decisive for this position. We want you to

· the communication of the Christian faith is essential to succeed in the position, and we consider it a prerequisite that you are familiar with prayer, Bible reading, worship and Christian practice in general. In e.g. visiting service it will often be required to pray a free prayer with the citizen. Therefore experience with this will also be necessary.

· reach out with the Christian faith to others with respect for diversity

· be familiar with the Christian faith and the folk church's service

· be able to collaborate with and accommodate many very different people, be listening and at the same time help drive the work forward

· be network-building and outgoing, and aware of conveying contacts

· be self-driving and responsibly contribute to turning ideas into reality, and at the same time

· be a team player, who is listening and empathetic, and who likes to play together with others

· be able to lead and organize some activities in detail, while you must give room for self-management among the volunteers and here help with an overall organization

· be able to connect with both children, teenagers, young adults and older people, and understand the wishes, needs and interests of these target groups

· be able to see yourself as part of the parish

We expect that you

· have experience working in churchly – or Christian contexts

· have a relevant education, preferably as church and culture worker

· are used to using different social media in communication with others

· are used to using office programs

Who are we?

Sankt Hans Church is located in the middle of Odense, and we see it as one of our primary tasks to be a church that is active in the city’s life.

The parish consists of people of all ages from all over Odense and surroundings. Among other things there are many young people, especially students, and families with small and large children. In the parish there is a majority of 20-30 year olds.

Working place and hours

You will have an office space in the parish house. The working hours can vary, evening and weekend work to be expected. A criminal record and references will be obtained.

It is a permanent position, so it is important that you can see yourself in the position for several years.

Employment terms

Employment 26 hours per week with start on 1 January 2027 or by agreement. Possibly there may be a few more hours in a two-year project period.
