About the job

We are looking for an engaged and responsible night guard with professional capacity and calm in mind. You will become part of a fixed dedicated night guard team.

The position is as a fixed awake night guard in a schedule where you work 5:2.

Night as an active pedagogical arena

The young people you meet have different and often complex challenges, including early neglect, many relocations, relational betrayals and a lack of trust in the adults around them. It may manifest as psychiatric difficulties, behavioral disorders, trauma, substance abuse and social problems. The young people participate in a specialized pedagogical intervention with a treatment-oriented aim, and the night hours are therefore an essential pedagogical arena where you focus on regulation, establishing safety and crisis management.

As the awake night guard you are the steady and present adult whom the young can seek help from, and who can read and respond to their needs when they cannot express them themselves.

Your tasks

• Be awake and available throughout the night for the young people
• Ensure recognizability, safety and calm across the departments
• Observation and professional documentation
• Practical tasks and handover to day staff
• Handle nightly calls, unrest and crisis reactions with a low arousal approach and professional overview.

We are looking for someone who

• Can stand firm and be present in the relationship – also in pressured situations
• Works calmly and structurally and can ensure stability during the night hours
• Have experience from 24-hour facilities, psychiatry, placement services or similar (not a requirement)
• Preferably knowledge of low arousal, mentalization and trauma insight

About us

Fårupgård Youth Center is a municipal home for children and youths aged 12-23. We have 6 departments and an internal school. We work with a trauma- and development-oriented approach, where mentalization skills and professional curiosity are important guides.

We work from a mentalization-based approach, supplemented with neuroaffective pedagogy and low arousal - with a strong focus on safety, stability and relationship work.

Our primary purpose is stabilization with a focus on re-establishing safety for the young people. The work centers on establishing relationships, physical and psychological safety as well as recognizability with a focus on routines. The pedagogical space for action will be a supportive and empathetic approach, when it is largely the young people’s safety we are working with.

Employment conditions

• The position is 32 hours per week on average
• Salary according to the applicable collective agreement with the possibility of allowances based on qualifications
