Do you want an exciting job where you can help make a difference? Denmark's Prisons are now seeking prison guards to staff the Danish prisons and detention centers.

As a prison guard, your task is to maintain the framework for a safe and predictable daily life for the inmates. You will work with people from all walks of life and contribute to developing and maintaining a constructive custodial environment. Most importantly, you contribute to motivating the inmates to a life without crime.

In the training you will learn

• about the prison guard's authorities, the values of Danmarks Fængsler, applicable rules and guidelines.
• to be aware of and reflect on your own actions in order to build a professional relationship with the inmates.
• to communicate clearly and use the right tools in potential conflict situations.

As a prison guard you should therefore

• be able to make decisions, even when it becomes difficult.
• have the desire to make a difference for people who find themselves in a difficult and life-changing situation.
• be balanced, responsible and, not least, have the capacity to cope.

As a prison guard you have a job with great responsibility. You must be able to balance between order and safety and be able to support and motivate the inmates on the path to a law-abiding and good life on the other side of the wall.

Starting date

Training start for prison guards occurs three times a year in January, April and September, where over the three years there is a mix of classroom and practicum in our institutions.
