About the job

Educator wanted for kindergarten - with a focus on language, outdoor life and learning environments.

Are you passionate about jumping in puddles, lighting a campfire and taking children on discovery in nature? THEN you might be our new educator!

We are looking for an engaged and attentive educator who will help create a kindergarten everyday life with a focus on strong child communities, language development, outdoor life and inspiring learning environments.

Kindergarten House Knolden is located in scenic Himmelev and is part of Area Midtøst.

We have 74 children, distributed across two age-integrated toddlers' rooms and three kindergarten groups.

With us we use the outdoor space as a learning and development environment. Nature gives the children opportunities for movement, immersion, imagination and shared experiences. We see the playground and the local environment as important pedagogical spaces where children can be curious, explorative and participative.

You will play an important role in supporting the children's language development throughout the day. We work with language in play, in daily routines and in smaller groups. At the same time we consciously strive to create learning environments where all children feel they belong and have the opportunity to participate.

Our everyday life is characterized by great engagement, good atmosphere and room for laughter.

We are particularly focused on play, nature and outdoor life - both in work with the individual child and with the big community.

We collaborate broadly with the local community, including Bernadottegården, the Viking ship museum and the book bus

Our professional stance is based on a resource-oriented view of children. We acknowledge children's differences as a strength and as a natural part of broad child communities.

We work for pedagogical practice where the boundaries between general and special education blur in encounters with the individual child and the individual group of children. The goal is to create participation opportunities and inclusive learning environments for all children.

We use the language staircase as a systematic tool to follow the children's development and to qualify our pedagogical work. On this basis we plan learning environments that support each child's linguistic participation and development throughout the day.

In the Municipality of Roskilde it is politically prioritized that all houses are allocated preparation time. The preparation time shall give staff the opportunity to work more systematically with the core task, and at the same time create better conditions for professional development, well-being, job satisfaction and strong communities – without compromising child time and staffing norms.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • Works in a resource-oriented way and sees children's differences as a strength
  • Wants to work systematically and structurally with pedagogical development and reflection
  • Is curious about nature, outdoor life and play as a pedagogical tool
  • Sees the playground as an important learning space
  • Can contribute to inclusive learning environments and broad child communities
  • Focuses on the core task and on how we can continually develop and improve our practice
  • Can participate in a close and constructive collaboration with parents, colleagues and the local community

What you get

  • Fixed preparation time
  • Good colleagues with high professionalism, high spirits and focus on a healthy work environment
  • A everyday life with curious, fun and wonderful children
  • Exciting and developing projects that connect theory and practice
  • Opportunity to influence the pedagogical practice and the house's learning environments.
  • Opportunity for both practical and theoretical pedagogical development

If you have questions or would like a tour, you are welcome to contact the pedagogical leader Betina Christensen on tel. 2490 6495, or by email: [email protected]

Criminal record and child protection checks as well as references will be obtained before employment. Salary is negotiated according to current collective agreement.

Application deadline: Oct 26, 2026 at 12:00.

Interviews: We expect to conduct interviews on an ongoing basis

Start: according to agreement.
