About the job
The Resource Center is part of the City of Mariagerfjord Municipality's offerings to children, youths and families with interventions ranging from preventive to extensive support.
We are seeking a FAMILY COUNSELOR on a full-time basis for a temporary position from December 1, 2026 to December 1, 2027 for primary employment in our: 24/7 care in the Family and Youth House - 37 hours per week.
The Family and Youth House is part of the Resource Center, where children, youths and families receive overnight stays with a view to developing and supporting them in terms of development and well-being.
We are thus seeking a colleague, preferably with experience in working with the target group of youths and families.
In the Family and Youth House we work from a professionally grounded and appreciative approach, where the relationship is the focal point of our efforts. Our pedagogical practice, among other things, draws on the Low Arousal approach as well as the Neuroaffective Compass. These approaches/methods support our work to create safe, developmental and predictable frameworks for children, youths and their families.
We place emphasis on meeting each individual with curiosity, respect and a resource-focused view, where behavior is understood in the context in which it arises. Through mentalization, emotion regulation and a conscious adjustment of our own approach, we work purposefully to strengthen well-being, development and sustainable relationships.
As a colleague you will join a team of professionally skilled and engaged colleagues attached to the Family and Youth House; in addition you will be part of an overall staff group, which also includes family counselors who primarily work in the families' homes.
There is work with support and development of the young person's/family's individual challenges, e.g. self-esteem, self-confidence, recognizing one's own resources, and handling difficult situations. We also work to acknowledge successes and help the young person/family to see when they are developing.
There is emphasis on offering an individual, dynamic and holistic approach, which can consist of several composite solutions:
- 24/7 care for children/youths
- 24/7 care family treatment
- Respite care
- Acute admission, including mapping the child/youth's and family's situation.
- Family work in the home
- Supported and supervised visitation
- Aftercare
We are looking for you who
- is trained as a pedagogue or has another relevant basic education, preferably with experience from psychiatry, and/or relevant further education
- can accommodate children/youths and families in difficulties and collaborate with the parents to create development and well-being for their children/youths
- can work development-supportively with children, youths and families based on a relational, pedagogical and treatment-oriented approach
- independently can plan, structure and carry out work with the families within the goals and frameworks set by the caseworker.
- is adaptable and flexible with regard to changing tasks and working hours.
- takes ownership and will contribute to ongoing professional development of our interdisciplinary collaboration.
- is well formed in writing and can handle written documentation in the form of status reports, observation descriptions and assessments.
We offer
- exciting and varied tasks
- skilled and engaged colleagues
- a workplace in constant professional development
- an exciting and challenging job with a high degree of independence under responsibility
- external supervision
The working hours are expected to be arranged and carried out in day hours, evening hours and weekends.
