About the job

  • Are you passionate about making a difference for vulnerable families
  • Do you see value in supporting children's general community life
  • Do you have experience with family treatment tasks
  • Are you enthusiastic about extensive cross-disciplinary work
  • Are you ready to start early and flexibly on the task
  • Are you unpretentious and able to create positive energy around you.

Then you may be our new colleague.

Your main tasks

The work field of family therapists consists of family-oriented counseling, support and treatment for vulnerable children and young people. We work with families that are challenged in several areas of life, and the intervention takes place both in the Family House and in the families' own homes.

We provide Family treatment in accordance with the Child Act §§ 29, 30 & 31, 30 & 32, including several group programs such as pregnancy/newborn groups, Cool Kids and Chilled, social group, psychoeducational groups related to diagnoses, sibling groups, multi-family therapy, etc.

Currently we are looking for a colleague for our newborn groups. The newborn groups offer programs for vulnerable families, focusing on family formation and early relational development. Mothers and children meet in the Family House twice a week, where the early relational development and motherhood are addressed. In addition, home visits are conducted, where the father is also involved. In connection with the father’s paternity leave we offer a fathers group program.

In late 2024 we entered a 4-year collaboration with the Danish Agency for and Housing with a focus on early intervention for all newborn families based on an open-door principle. It is therefore expected that the new employee provides open, anonymous counseling and participates in individual method-based prevention and treatment of postpartum reactions.

Besides newborn work, you are expected to take on cases in the remaining family house, which will be general §30 and §32 family treatment tasks.

Your competences

We are looking for a colleague with relevant family therapeutic further education and experience:

  • Who keeps the child at the center
  • Has knowledge and experience of newborn development, and approaches to supporting vulnerable newborn parents in family- and relationship-building
  • Has knowledge and experience of children and families with psychiatric diagnoses, as well as anxiety, depression, violence issues, eating disorders, etc.
  • Has experience in creating development for children and families through family-oriented interventions
  • Has extensive knowledge about children and youth in general, and experience providing advice and treatment
  • Has a pronounced cross-disciplinary mindset
  • Is comfortable stepping in early and flexibly into a task
  • Is prepared to have variable and flexible working hours
  • Is able to articulate in writing and approach tasks systematically
  • Can work professionally and flexibly within a municipal reality with varied tasks, mandates and collaboration relations
  • Familiar with the methods used: Newborn Behavioral Observations (NBO), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and working model of the child would be an advantage.

What you get with us

Our staff group consists of highly competent, mildly specialized family therapists, who are interdisciplinary composed of pedagogues, psychologists and social workers. There is access to internal and external supervision, collegial sparring, etc.

In the Family House we prioritize high professional standards, development and engagement. We value a friendly collegial atmosphere and strive to have a professional, informal and social collaborative culture. Our theoretical and methodological approaches draw on narrative, systemic, solution-focused, cognitive, mentalizing-based, compassion-focused and neuroaffective understandings and methods.

Who we are

The Family House is part of the special children’s area in the Center for Children and Youth Counseling (C-BUR), which includes the Children and Youth Division, PPR, Health Visitors and a range of other professions. In Ballerup we work with a focus on the task, interdisciplinarity and early intervention. This means you are involved early in the process with the child/the youth and the family. You help shape the task together with the family, as well as the professional and private network. In line with the Child Act we are rethinking our interventions to match the requirements contained in the act.
