Finderup Church in Kalundborg Deanery seeks a sexton

The position is 15 hours per week with start date 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

As a church sexton you will play a central role in the church's daily life and activities. Your tasks will include, among others:

· Service at worship services, weddings, baptisms, funerals and burials

· Practical assistance at church events (e.g., concerts and lectures)

· Shopping for the church (e.g., flowers, bread for the Eucharist, wine, church coffee)

· Preparation of the church space and church coffee about twice a month

· Cleaning and general maintenance of the church

· Other ad hoc tasks as agreed with the parish council

· Can work independently while also collaborating with the priest, the organist and other staff

Salary and terms of employment

Employment takes place with Finderup Parish Council located at Finderupvej 18, 4270 Høng

The appointment is covered by the Common Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees Organisations (OAO-S) and the Organizational Agreement for church officials with core tasks as sexton or grave digger, concluded between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and the Danish Sexton Association and the accompanying protocol for sextons. Current civil service employees who are sextons have the right to retain their civil servant status upon employment with direct transfer. In that case, a reclassification of the position must take place.

It is a condition that the mandatory 5 weeks of training for sextons must be completed within 2 years of the start of employment.

Annual salary is agreed within the range of 324,667.02 DKK – 408,841.08 DKK (current kroner).

There is a on-call requirement for the position. The on-call allowance amounts to 33,230.62 DKK per year (current kroner).

OK allowance of 1,400.52 DKK per year (current kroner).

Agreement on placement in the salary range is entered into between the parish council and the Danish Sexton Association.

OK allowance as well as the on-call allowance are prorated in accordance with the position's appointment fraction.
