We are seeking a disability helper for a permanent position of between 20-25 hours on average per week, no later than from 1/1-27.

We are looking for someone who is lively, with good energy and lots of humor for a quick and cheerful boy with muscular dystrophy.

We place a very high value on engaging with presence and empathy in the work, and thus with the boy and his family.

Shifts include day and night shifts as well as weekend shifts.

The timings of the shifts vary depending on whether it is weekdays or weekends. A day shift is typically between 12-16 hours and a night shift is typically between 8-10 hours.

Shift times may also vary during school holiday periods.

Energetic boy with spinal muscular atrophy

The boy is 15 years old and lives in Terndrup, North Jutland, with his mother and father. He attends a youth education program in Aalborg. The boy also has companionship during school hours. Both the boy and his family are smiling and positive people who all value a good portion of humor.

The boy has reduced mobility and sits in an electric wheelchair.

Companionship as well as afternoon- and evening leisure

As his helper you will assist with practical tasks, dining support, personal care, transfers, accompany to school and leisure activities as well as appointments with friends. If you are also ready for a game of PlayStation and/or computer, a good chat and a good laugh, you are very likely a good match.

It is a requirement that you as a helper have a driver’s license and can drive the boy's disability bus.

In addition, it is important that you have a good sense of when to help and when to act as the fly on the wall, both in relation to the boy alone and the family.

Night monitoring

These are awake night shifts, as the boy must be monitored at night while he sleeps with a CPAP mask. There may be a need to reposition the boy and adjust the mask during the night.

It is extremely important that you have a good chemistry with the boy. Therefore, a chemistry visit with the boy and his parents is planned before any possible employment.
