About the job

Lunch cook wanted at Hotel Viking

Are you the type who loves creating great food experiences – and who thrives with a workday where no two days are necessarily the same?

At Hotel Viking we are looking for an engaged lunch cook who is passionate about good ingredients, quality, and the craftsmanship in the kitchen. You will become an important part of our kitchen team and will have a central role in the daily production and execution of our conferences, events, and lunch à la carte.

Hotel Viking is much more than a hotel. We create experiences, calm, and presence for our guests, and the food is an important part of the overall experience. Whether the guest attends a conference, celebrates a special occasion, or enjoys lunch in the restaurant, the quality must be right.

You apply for the job because you love your trade and want to take pride in your work. You come in with a good mood, take responsibility, and thrive on working independently. At the same time you know the best results come when we help each other and work as one team.

We expect you to be passionate about your craft and take pride in delivering high quality – even when the pace is high. You work in a structured way, have an eye for detail and manage to maintain an overview when there are many portions to get out of the kitchen.

The position is versatile, and you will have a daily life that includes production, preparation, and execution. You will primarily be responsible for our lunch production and conference catering, but you will also be part of the execution of our events and lunch à la carte.

Your tasks will include, among other things

· Production and execution of our conference catering.

· Preparation and plating of lunch à la carte.

· Preparation and execution of events and functions.

· Mise en place and daily production for the kitchen.

· Ensure high quality and consistency in our dishes.

· Contribute to the development of our lunch and conference concept.

· Ensure order, structure, and high hygiene in the kitchen.

· Collaborate with the other chefs in the kitchen and the restaurant team to deliver a great guest experience.

We expect you to be able to nod in approval to our three core values that define us as a company and the way we meet both guests and colleagues:

· You show care.

· You take pride in your work.

· You are sincere.

In the kitchen we have an informal tone and great respect for each other’s differences. We believe that a strong community and good mood create the best results.

We work with seasonal produce and focus on homemade products and good craftsmanship. At the same time, we are developing our gastronomic profile, and here you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and put your own mark on the food.

We host conferences, celebrations, lunch guests, and the hotel’s other guests, which means you will have the opportunity to work with many different types of cooking and production.

We offer good opportunities for professional development and further education. At the same time, we are proud of our apprentices, and we hope you will want to be an inspiring colleague who shares your knowledge and experience.

At Hotel Viking we offer orderly conditions and operate under a collective agreement with 3F. We offer a fixed shift schedule, where the working hours generally fall around 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., so you have the opportunity to achieve a good balance between work life and leisure. Of course, a few evening shifts may occur in connection with events and functions.

We strive for every other weekend off, and you will know your schedule eight weeks in advance.

We place great emphasis on giving you a good start. Therefore, you will be thoroughly introduced to both colleagues, workflows, and our culture, so you quickly feel at home as part of the Hotel Viking family.

If you are a chef who likes both good craftsmanship, a busy everyday life, and the feeling of sending good food out to happy guests, we would love to hear from you.

We look forward to welcoming you.
