About the job

The appointment is a permanent position from 1/12-26 and preferably earlier

Are you passionate about

  • working with students who have special challenges?
  • to make a lasting impact - help students become life-capable, giving them both academic and personal skills?
  • to collaborate with families on the students' development?
  • a close teamwork where we work together on the students' well-being and learning?
  • to contribute and participate in a team collaboration with engaged teachers and pedagogues?
  • to move project-based teaching outdoors about 2 days a week – in all weather?
  • pedagogical clarity?

We are looking for a pedagogue who is passionate about thinking in a way where theory and practice connect. You will become part of a strong team with 2 teachers and 1 other pedagogue, who has extensive experience with outdoor school. Together we create a safe and structured everyday life for our 9 boys aged 10-13, all of whom have autism and ADHD and can display demanding behavior.

How we work

Our students learn best when they can use their bodies and senses. Two days a week the teaching moves away from the classroom – we bike, walk, take the train or bus out into nature, to museums or places that give academic meaning. We work project-based, which means students learn Danish and English through concrete experiences and practical tasks.

In this group we think ADHD before autism.

In daily life you will become part of both the school and after-school part.

In the school part you will support students to participate in the lessons, hold student conversations and be responsible for Social Education.

In the after-school part you, together with our other skilled pedagogues, will be responsible for our after-school provision for the students, which runs from 6:30 to 17:00. The day will always be divided so that you either start early or have a late day. In addition you will be part of holiday coverage during the schools' holidays together with the other pedagogues.

Generally the students in our classes are primarily diagnosed within autism spectrum disorders with occasional co-diagnoses such as anxiety, OCD or ADHD and are typically intellectually capable. We organize ourselves in groups of about 8-12 students with about 4 people in the team around a group. Our pedagogical approach is inspired by TEACCH and low arousal.

We have 1 psychologist and a education counselor, with whom we collaborate closely regarding the students' well-being and development.

We offer

  • A good workplace with lots of good humor, great colleagues and a strong sense of community.
  • A workplace with good development opportunities.
  • A large focus on teamwork.
  • A strong and well-developed collaboration between teachers and pedagogues.
  • Fine physical facilities.
  • A strong focus on relational work as a foundation for professionalism.
  • Mentoring scheme for new employees and special initiatives for newly educated teachers.

We expect

  • That you want to work with children who sometimes have it really tough.
  • That you want to be part of a strong team collaboration with your colleagues, where everyone contributes.
  • That you want to be part of a good workplace with room to grow.
  • We would like you to have special education competencies such as knowledge about autism, ADHD, TEACCH and low arousal.
