About the job

Join us in developing video solutions for millions of readers

Would you like to help develop video solutions that readers encounter across, among others, Berlingske, B.T., Weekendavisen and Euroinvestor - and at the same time take responsibility for your solutions all the way from development and testing to release and operation?

APT (Amedia Product and Technology) is looking for a Fullstack Developer for the Video team in Copenhagen. Here you will become part of a Danish-Norwegian team that develops and operates the solutions that bring video all the way from the editors to the users.

You will work with a broad technical portfolio and have the opportunity to make your mark in an area that has great strategic importance for Amedia. At the same time you will be part of a common Nordic product and technology organization, where the Danish and Norwegian tech environments come together, and where there is still the possibility to influence both solutions and technical choices.

Develop solutions across the entire video chain

In the Video Team we develop and run the solutions that support video across Amedia's digital products.

It ranges from the tools the editors use to work with and publish video, to services, databases and infrastructure as well as the user interfaces and players that readers encounter.

Video is a strategically important area for Amedia. The ambition is to make video a more natural part of the news experience and at the same time make it easier for the editors to produce and publish video.

This places particular technical demands. The solutions must work across platforms and devices and be stable, even when many users watch simultaneously. At live events and major news events, the solutions must function exactly at the time of peak load. Therefore, performance, testing, quality and stable operation are a major focus in the team's work.

Your tasks will include

  • developing and maintaining user interfaces and services primarily in TypeScript
  • working with playback and distribution of video across platforms and devices
  • taking end-to-end ownership of your own tasks from development and testing to release and subsequent operation
  • working with testing at multiple levels, including unit, integration, end-to-end and performance testing
  • troubleshooting, optimizing and further developing solutions that are already in production
  • actively participating in code reviews, technical sparring and knowledge sharing
  • collaborating with Product Manager, UX/designers and developers across Denmark and Norway.

TypeScript is the common technology, but the solutions vary in architecture and technical patterns. Therefore you do not need to be a classic 50/50 full-stack profile. Perhaps your greatest strength lies in frontend and user experience, or perhaps you feel most comfortable on the backend. The most important thing is that you are curious about the overall solution and want to understand more than just the part of the code you work on.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a few years of experience with software or web development and have reached a level where you can take independent responsibility for your tasks.

You have experience with TypeScript or a strong development background that allows you to quickly work in a TypeScript-based stack.

Your profile can be frontend-, backend- or full-stack-oriented. On the frontend you may have worked with React, Svelte, Vue or similar frameworks, while a backend profile may bring experience with services, APIs, integrations and databases.

Your formal educational background is not decisive. We place greater weight on your experience, technical professionalism and the responsibility you have previously taken.

We place particular emphasis on the following

  • have experience with automated testing and see test and quality as a natural part of development work
  • have worked with solutions in production and are comfortable with debugging and continuous optimization
  • are curious about architecture and how different parts of a solution fit together
  • can take independent ownership and drive your tasks forward
  • enjoy code reviews, professional sparring and knowledge sharing
  • communicate clearly and enjoy collaboration across teams and countries
  • are curious, proactive and eager to take responsibility for the solutions you help build.

AI is already a natural part of development work at APT. Therefore we also welcome that you have experience with tools such as Claude and are curious about how AI can make development work better and more efficient.

A team across Denmark and Norway

The Video Team today consists of a full-time developer, two contractors and a Product Manager in Norway. The team works closely across Denmark and Norway, and in the Copenhagen office you will also become part of a larger professional environment with developers and designers from APT's other teams.

The collaboration is characterized by trust, autonomy and knowledge sharing with room to experiment, learn and challenge existing solutions. Although the team is spread across two countries, the focus is on building strong relationships through close daily dialogue, ongoing sparring and physical meetings across Denmark and Norway.

Who are Amedia and APT?

Amedia is one of the Nordics' largest media groups and Norway's largest publisher of editorial media. In Denmark, Amedia owns Berlingske Media with Berlingske, B.T., Weekendavisen and Euroinvestor.

APT is Amedia's common product and technology organization. Here around 220 employees including contractors work across Denmark and Norway with, among others, websites, apps, editorial platforms, personalization, data & AI, subscription solutions, advertising, infrastructure and cybersecurity.

The ambition is simple: to develop robust digital solutions that can be built once and create value across media and markets, giving the media even better opportunities to focus on their core: journalism.

The practical

The position is 37 hours per week with a workplace at Pilestræde 34, Copenhagen K. APT offers flexible working arrangements with the possibility of working from home. There may also be occasional travel between Denmark and Norway.
