About the job

Are you a physiotherapist or occupational therapist, and are you passionate about creating strong sensorimotor environments where all children have the opportunity to participate?

Are you motivated to – together with daycare and schools – to create learning environments that support all children's development and opportunities to participate? And are you motivated to work with play, bodily awareness and physical activity in communities where the adult is participating and guiding the play? Then you may be the right person for us.

About the position

The initiative strengthens the preventive and anticipatory work in the mainstream area for children with sensorimotor challenges and for children who need help with bodily and emotional regulation. The work targets children and their professional adults in daycare and early years. The intention is to strengthen inclusive learning environments with special educational competencies in practice. It is expected that you can contribute with concrete and practice-oriented knowledge, inspiration and guidance regarding sensorimotor activities and play.

Your tasks

  • contribute to ensuring that the therapeutic perspective on children's general development and well-being becomes a regular part of discussions, concrete actions and evaluations of initiatives for children in daycare and in early years
  • support that children meet in learning environments that support their motor and sensory needs
  • work preventively and anticipatorily with the body, senses and movement in the mainstream area in an interdisciplinary collaboration with among others support- and competence pedagogues, psychologists, speech and hearing consultants, teachers, pedagogues and health visitors
  • participate in tasks at multiple levels and initiate interventions in collaboration with larger and smaller groups of staff in daycare and early years with groups of children and with parents

Work community

You will have two therapist colleagues, and you will be attached to the cross-disciplinary support function in Valby, which consists of consultants, support and competence pedagogues, psychologists, health visitors, speech and hearing consultants, and more. We have a work community where we focus on the task, are professionally ambitious and go the extra mile to support children in vulnerable positions and the professionals close to the children. It is natural in our work community that we help each other and offer collegial sparring.

Professional competencies and motivation

We expect that you

  • are a licensed physiotherapist or occupational therapist, possibly supplemented with relevant education or courses – you may also have experience from PPR or a similar function
  • are keen to engage in close interdisciplinary collaboration with several professional groups and parents
  • have knowledge of the pedagogical core task in daycare, KKFO and early years
  • can bring your therapeutic perspective and competencies into play and can translate into practice-oriented guidance, concrete inspiration and sparring in daycare, KKFO and early years as well as in the interdisciplinary support
  • can convey how a sensorimotor and bodily approach can support an inclusive learning environment and can contribute to better children’s prerequisites for participation in activities, learning and communities in general
  • preferably have experience with NUSSA, Sunshine Circles, play sessions inspired by Theraplay or be willing to work with that approach and methodology
  • are willing and able to develop, plan and deliver presentations and teaching programmes
  • have experience with documentation and written work
  • have knowledge of relevant tests and assessment tools and can translate this knowledge into the learning environments
