About the job

We are seeking 1 physiotherapist or occupational therapist for the Special Education Center at Vittenberg School, effective January 1, 2027 – the position is 32 hours per week. The position is fixed-term for a minimum of 1 year.

Are you keen to make a difference for children and young people with complex functional impairments – and would you like to be part of a multidisciplinary environment with high professional standards? Then this position may be right for you.

The Vittenberg Special Education Center is a segregated offer for pupils in Esbjerg Municipality. The target group is pupils from 0–10th grade with extensive physical and mental disabilities and with a combination of severe social, cognitive and communicative challenges. There is an associated CFO.

We are seeking 1 physiotherapist or occupational therapist for a fixed-term position of 32 hours per week starting 1 January 2027. You will become part of an ambitious school that comprises many different professional disciplines. We work closely together to create development opportunities and participation for children and young people. You will both carry out therapeutic tasks and be part of a class team around a group of students.

We are looking for an employee with a strong professional awareness. You must be theoretically well-founded and able to translate that into practice.

It would be an advantage if you have extensive knowledge of working with children with multiple disabilities, autism, and have knowledge of developing and working from mastery plans.

In the pedagogical work, emphasis is placed on a structured and pedagogically tailored approach to create security and predictability for the student.

Throughout the special part we have a strong focus on working with AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). Our vision is that all children have the right to a language.

We also want to create adapted learning environments with a strong focus on body/movement and outdoor life in teaching.

We expect our new colleagues

  • have a strong commitment to extensive special education
  • are respectful, trustworthy and loyal
  • contribute to a daily life with a focus on learning, well-being, care and the development of each student
  • recognize the importance of ongoing documentation and follow-up
  • can de-escalate conflicts using a low-arousal approach
  • are able to work independently and are ready to develop their own practice in pedagogical learning environments
  • have good competencies in interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as in engaging in close cooperation with parents
  • have good communication skills

You can expect to

  • meet a school with a strong focus on development and well-being
  • meet happy and hopeful students, colleagues and parents
  • have an exciting and versatile job with competent colleagues
  • meet a department with a high level of professionalism, a good working environment and a strong sense of community
  • meet a broad range of partners
  • be at a workplace with opportunities for professional and personal sparring/development

If you want to know more about the position and the school, you can contact the pedagogical leader Helle Fink Lykke at tel. 27 24 22 72 or Anne Wittenkamp at tel. 40 46 03 65.
