Gardener for Humlebæk & Torpen Cemeteries

Do you want to help develop a place that has room for both professionalism, nature and people?

Humlebæk and Torpen Cemeteries are looking for a full-time gardener who wants to become part of our team and help care for and develop the cemeteries.

Start date is January 1, 2027.

Humlebæk Cemetery is not just one large, uniform green space. Here there are many different expressions and green rooms. In some places it should stand sharp and well-kept, while others may have a more natural look. It is precisely the variation that helps make the cemetery the place it is, and what our users appreciate.

We therefore seek a gardener who has professional depth, a sense of the whole and a desire to put their own mark on the work.

An everyday with variation

As a gardener with us you will have a varied workday with, among other things

• care of graves and communal areas
• lawn mowing, hedge trimming and pruning
• care and establishment of plantings
• smaller construction- and maintenance tasks
• development and care of the cemeteries' different green areas
• practical tasks around the churches and cemeteries
• opportunity to participate in developing the outdoor areas around our new parish house.

We are in the process of building a new parish house, which is expected to be ready in 2027. Here we will establish outdoor areas where we together have the opportunity to think innovatively and help shape solutions from idea to finished result, something we hope you will contribute to.

We are a team

You will become part of a team of five gardeners and a cemetery manager. We also work closely with two priests and two church wardens.

We place emphasis on good collaboration across functions. The church and cemeteries work best when we help each other and understand each other's tasks.

A good working environment matters a lot to us. There should be room for humor, a good chat and having fun together – but also to roll up our sleeves and work hard when necessary.

A job with people

As a gardener at a cemetery you work not only with plants and green areas.

The cemetery is a place where people come with grief, longing and memories. You will therefore also meet relatives and be close to religious services, where emotions can be strong.

It is important to us that you have respect and understanding for people in grief, and that you can meet people calmly and properly. You do not need to have answers to the grief, but you must be able to be present and have situational awareness.

• have a gardener education or relevant experience
• have professional pride and an eye for quality
• can work independently and take responsibility
• enjoy a varied workday
• can collaborate with different professional groups
