Varde Cemeteries seek a gardener for the 2027 season and onward

A position as gardener or gardener assistant is available at Varde Cemeteries with commencement no later than February 8, 2027. The position is 37 hours per week.

Varde Cemeteries comprises three cemeteries: Arnbjerg Cemetery, Østerlund Cemetery and The Old Cemetery. Here you will have the opportunity to work close to nature and help create and maintain beautiful, well-kept cemeteries that are an important part of the local community.

We are seeking an independent and service-minded employee who also wants to be part of a good team at the cemeteries. You should be able to cooperate well with the church’s other staff and the parish council, and it is important that you meet visitors in the church and at the cemeteries in a friendly and welcoming manner.

• are trained as a gardener or have knowledge of and interest in the green sector
• have a sense of order and be responsible
• can work independently and take responsibility for your tasks

Working hours and pay

Working hours are Monday–Thursday 7:00–15:00 and Friday 7:00–12:00. Weekend shifts (Friday afternoon and Saturday) are included in a fixed rotation, where you have duties about every 7–8 weeks.

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the Agreement for gardeners and gardener workers at cemeteries, entered into between the Ministry of Church Affairs and the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (3F). The agreement can be viewed at www.folkekirkenspersonale.dk . Starting salary is DKK 29,000 per month including allowances + pension.
