About the job

Do you want an exciting and varied daily life in an active church with many activities and people? Then it might be you we are looking for.

Zion's Parish is a large and active parish in the center of Esbjerg with just over 7,000 inhabitants, of whom about 5,150 are members of the Folkekirken (the Danish National Church).

As the daily leader and church clerk you will be a central and visible part of everyday life in Zion's Church. You will play an important role in creating coherence between the church's many activities, staff, volunteers, priests and the parish council.

The position combines personnel management, administration, communications and classic church clerk tasks. Therefore we are seeking a person who thrives with responsibility, can maintain an overview and at the same time meets people openly and warmly.

Your primary tasks

The work as daily leader and church clerk includes among other things

  • Personnel management and personnel administration
  • Secretarial function for the parish's two priests and the parish council
  • Personal registration
  • PR and communications tasks
  • General office administration
  • Bookkeeping – we have an attached accounting firm
  • Participation in church services

We place emphasis on

  • having experience from similar areas and being able to work independently and responsibly.
  • having an eye for good personnel management and being able to plan and organise the work with respect for each employee's working hours, freedom and wellbeing.
  • being able to create the framework for good and constructive communication and a trusting collaboration between the parish council, priests and employees.
  • being approachable, structured and flexible and able to maintain an overview in a daily life with many different tasks.
  • communicating clearly and professionally in writing and having good IT skills and being familiar with digital solutions.

We offer

  • A full-time position with exciting, meaningful and varied work, where you will come into contact with many people.
  • An informal working environment and collegiality based on secure collaboration, where we help each other – often in a humorous and down-to-earth tone.
  • You will become part of an active church with dedicated staff, volunteers and an engaged parish council. You will have a central function in the church's daily work and good opportunities to influence and coordinate everyday life.
  • Weekly staff meetings for all employees and priests, where we coordinate, follow up and find solutions together.
  • Close collaboration and sparring with the person responsible for personnel.
  • Great flexibility in work planning.
