About the job

Do you want to lead a lovely kindergarten, where play, presence and strong communities are the direction?

We are seeking a new pedagogical leader for a lovely kindergarten in Jyllinge. A leader who will take the helm on 1 January 2027, as the kindergarten's current leader will sail around the world.

About Børnehuset Arken

The physical framework of Børnehuset Arken is good, but there is room to further develop the pedagogical layout. Both indoors and outdoors there is plenty of space for play and immersion. Arken's 90 children are distributed across two infant groups and three preschool groups. In the middle of the building is a large common room that provides the framework for joint activities and community across the groups.

As the pedagogical leader, you will become a central part of daily life in the house, and have responsibility for creating a safe, developmental and inclusive environment for children, parents and staff.

Your leadership profile

We are seeking a leader who has strong relational skills and who can translate that ability into interactions in everyday life. In addition, Arken needs a leader with a sense of systematics, follow-up and appropriate delegation. It is an advantage if your leadership style is characterized by working with clear goals, prioritisation and planning. You must be able to think and involve both the children's needs, staff well-being and the overarching municipal framework in your decisions.

Leaders who succeed often have the work stamina to stay with complex problems until they are solved – for the benefit of the community and with respect for those involved. Therefore, we want to find a leadership profile that approaches challenges constructively and flexibly, works pragmatically and is positive about task solving.

What employees want from you

Arken is a wonderful workplace with high ambitions for the children and good laughs in the staff room. The staff have helped formulate what they dream of in a new leader – and it matters greatly to us that you can reflect this:

  • They want a leader who makes an effort to get to know everyone – both children, parents and staff – and who is clear and proper in communication .
  • They emphasize that you take pride in ensuring that parents, staff and partners are well informed , so information is clear, timely and well communicated
  • They want a clear and framework-setting leader who is actively involved in the work environment and protects well-being and collaboration in the staff group and with the parents.
  • They dream of a leader who focuses on getting the team to play well together , and who uses delegation – both to motivate competent staff and to ensure that tasks do not drown in the leader themselves.
  • They want a strong head of personnel who follows up on, among other things, sickness absence and conflicts in a way that the workplace can grow from – with a view to both relationships, learning and sustainable solutions.
  • Employees experience a need for clear, presence-based leadership that steps in when disagreements arise, but which also gives freedom and trust when things succeed and the staff themselves can carry the task.

If you can see yourself in this, you will experience a staff that is eager to collaborate closely with you and actively contribute to the development of Arken.

About the task

The role as pedagogical leader requires that you have solid experience with everyday life in a kindergarten and a willingness to lead both operations and pedagogical development.

You should therefore have an interest in

  • developing good work schedules, holiday planning and meeting coordination, including ensuring that resources for preparation time benefit the staff, so it raises the pedagogical quality for the children,
  • ensuring a well-functioning cross-disciplinary collaboration with parents, psychologists, speech therapists and other professional groups around the pedagogical initiatives
  • being the leader of the work environment for Arken's staff and working systematically with well-being, feedback and job satisfaction

Arken and Alle Børns Dagtilbud

Børnehuset Arken participates in the national quality development program Alle Børns Dagtilbud, where we work purposefully to strengthen the quality of both the children's learning environments and the staff’s work environment. As a pedagogical leader you will be an active part of this work and will be part of a strong focus on developing daycare leadership that elevates everyday life for both children and staff – through systematic reflection, shared professional direction and clear follow-up on our efforts.

Leadership in Area North

In Roskilde Municipality's Area North, the leadership team focuses on creating day care of high quality while also creating attractive workplaces for staff. This balance requires that you, in close interaction with your area manager, can make good decisions that create quality for both children and staff.

We value approachable leadership that works purposefully and systematically, and leadership that takes responsibility for its own leadership well-being. This means that all leaders in Area North focus on organizing their work so they have the personal capacity to solve the tasks and exercise good leadership for the benefit of both children, parents and staff. This focus requires both good discipline and a trusted collaboration with the area manager to prioritise the right tasks at the right time and set a realistic pace for solving the tasks.

Time for the Core Task

High professional competence and pedagogical quality are essential to succeed with the political ambition of creating strong communities for all children and young people, and it requires time and space for immersion, reflection and collaboration for the pedagogical staff. In Roskilde Municipality it is politically prioritized that all buildings are allocated preparation time.

The preparation time should give staff the opportunity to work more systematically with the core task, and at the same time create better conditions for professional development, well-being, job satisfaction and strong communities – without compromising children's time and staffing levels.

Application deadline and contact

The application deadline is 22 October 2026 .

Interviews will be held on 29 October and 5 November. If you advance to a second interview, a profile analysis will be produced between the interviews to unfold your strengths and working methods. Salary and terms of employment for this full-time position are according to the current agreement between BUPL and KL. A criminal record check, child-safety clearance and references will be obtained before employment.
