Hammershøj School seeks a mathematics teacher with a special education profile to support neurodivergent students
As our relatively newly hired employee has chosen to seek new challenges, we are looking for a academically strong mathematics teacher for our Lagoon offering.
We are looking for a staff member with solid special educational competencies and a strong relational approach. You should have an eye for each student’s needs, be able to create safe and meaningful learning communities, and be prepared to think creatively and flexibly in the work of building and maintaining relationships.
In Lagunen we work purposefully to create participation opportunities for neurodivergent students. Therefore, we are looking for a colleague who can bring their mathematics subject strength into play and at the same time thrive in a daily life where clear relationships, special educational insight and strong collaboration are decisive for the students’ well-being and development.
Participation opportunities for all students
- We focus on creating participation opportunities and privileged positions for all children and young people.
- We work with intermediate forms – both regarding staff mindset (competence lift) and a physical intermediate form offering, Lagunen.
- All students from 0th grade – 9th grade work with “weekly schedules”.
- We work with child communities across ages and competences.
- We have an after-school care (SFO), where we focus on movement, creativity and unity.
Lagunen
Lagunen is a local inclusion effort at Hammershøj School. As a starting point, this offering is a time-limited program for students from 0th grade – 9th grade, who have difficulty attending school or have special challenges with their schooling. The students in Lagunen get space to learn and develop in a structured learning community. Here we support that the students gain a positive self-perception, and their difficulties fade into the background.
The adults try methods, frameworks of understanding and adjust along the way, so that the students are positioned as well as possible in their individual development. A common factor for the students is that they all benefit from entering into close, affirming relationships and thriving in a predictable, structured learning environment.
Our new employee must have
- Experience with structured pedagogy and autism pedagogy.
- Low arousal and non-confrontational pedagogy.
- Ability-driven.
- Willingness to work based on different individual learning goals and mastery methods.
- Belief that we must go far to include all children in their local environment.
- View parents as resources to be taken seriously while you can stand by your professional considerations.
You can expect
- A challenging and very exciting job - a job where you make a big difference.
- Recognition and sparring from management and colleagues – you are never alone in the task.
- To become part of a very positive environment where we look after each other.
- An employer with rapid development, where we dare to try ideas and initiatives.
Hammershøj School
The school is well-functioning and an ambitious school, located in wonderful green surroundings, where the school and after-school care continuously work with Viborg Municipality’s objectives. Our shared vision is that all children should have light in their eyes and master their own life. We want a school where all children should become as skilled as they can, while well-being is completely in place
Hammershøj School is a school where we as a rule have a track (0th – 9th grade) – though there are exceptions. We have about 200 students and about 36 staff members.
The after-school care is based at the school and has about 80 children enrolled. We have a club offering attached to the school for students from 4th – 6th grade.
The school is located in the eastern part of Viborg Municipality.
