Do you have solid and relevant experience with children or youths with ADHD and autism—and do you have the calm, presence and overview to be a secure adult in a daily life where small signals can mean a lot? Experience with ADHD and autism is a clear requirement to be able to perform the task.

We are seeking two employees for a personal and meaningful assignment with a boy in Esbjerg. He needs an adult who can be with him when his mother is not at home, and who can support him with calm, predictability and a good understanding of children and youths with complex needs.

About the boy

The boy needs support from an adult who has experience with ADHD, autism and children or youths who may have difficulty with demands, transitions and emotional regulation. It is important that you can work calmly, predictably and with respect for the child’s needs.

When he is stressed or overstimulated, he may need space, calm and clear adult support. Therefore it is crucial that you can read small signals, maintain an overview and adapt your approach, without pressuring or making unnecessary demands.

The task

The task is primarily to create security and be present when his mother is not at home. There are no fixed pedagogical goals or practical tasks beyond supporting him in everyday life and helping to create calm and predictability.

You must be able to meet him with patience, respect and clear boundaries – and at the same time understand that reactions can be expressions of overload, insecurity or a need for distance.

We are looking for you who

It is a prerequisite that you have solid experience with ADHD and autism. The task requires that you can understand and manage reactions in children or youths with complex needs, read small signals and support calmly when the child is pressed or needs to withdraw.

• Have concrete, relevant and documentable experience with ADHD and autism – preferably from work with children or youths with complex needs
• Can stay calm in difficult situations and work with a low arousal approach, patience and inclusivity
• Are good at reading small signals and adapting your approach
• Can create security without pressuring or making unnecessary demands
• Preferably a pedagogue, PAU or unskilled with relevant experience and strong personal competencies

Working hours and start

This is a role with a few hours per week until November/December. Thereafter, hours are expected to be distributed among two employees. Shifts are during daytime on weekdays, and start as soon as possible.

To ensure a good start, it is important that you can participate in training for 2 hours in the morning on either Tuesday or Friday. The training is adapted to the boy’s fixed activities and cannot be moved.
