About the job

In the Pediatric and Adolescent Receiving at NOH we are looking for a nurse as of December 1, 2026. A nurse who wishes for an exciting and varied daily life, where professionalism, collaboration and security for children and families are at the center. Could that be you?

We receive, stabilise and treat acutely ill children and adolescents from 0-18 years with both medical and abdominal surgical conditions. We see around 15,000 children and young people per year, so the pace is high and the patient flow can be large. It requires an overview, professionalism and the ability to stay calm even when it is busy. But you never stand alone. You will become part of a team where we help each other, share our knowledge and use each other's competencies. There is always an opportunity to spar with colleagues, both mono-disciplinary and interdisciplinary.

Patients are referred from their own GP and 1813, and we also receive children by ambulance, both for Category A and B transport. This means you will encounter many different patient pathways and issues during a workday.

We prioritise your professional development

Acute ill children require high professionalism and a sharp clinical eye. Therefore we have a strong focus on ensuring you have the opportunity to develop your competencies. This is achieved, among other things, through simulation training, mono-disciplinary training, professional sparring and reflection, triage and safe patient flow, as well as by prioritising our close mono- and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

We work with Fundamentals of Care

The Pediatric and Adolescent Receiving is part of a close collaboration with our three other pediatric wards at NOH. Across the departments we help each other and work together to develop our nursing.

We work with the concept framework Fundamentals of Care (FoC). It gives us a common professional foundation and supports our focus on the individual patient. We aim to create person-centred nursing where children, young people and their families feel seen, heard and safe when they are in an acute and possibly uneasy situation.

With us you get

  • An organized introductory program
  • Planned teaching days for new employees across the Pediatric and Adolescent Department at NOH
  • Cross- and mono-disciplinary SIM training
  • A strong professional team, including new graduates and experienced nurses
  • Visible leadership, where the path between staff and management is short
  • A staff group characterized by a pleasant working environment and social cohesion

•

We are looking for you who

  • are a trained nurse and have an interest in the acute pediatric area
  • thrive in a daily life with a high tempo and many different patient pathways
  • can maintain an overview when it is busy
  • want to develop your professional competencies
  • actively contribute to a good working community
  • see the family as an important part of the child’s or adolescent’s course

If you can see yourself in the above, we would be happy to receive your application. If you want to know more or would like to come and see the department before applying, do not hesitate to contact Chief Nurse Caroline Kjæmperud Mikkelsen at 4829 4394

The fine print

Application deadline is no later than 25/10 2026
