About the job

Would you like to lead a well-functioning geriatric inpatient ward with high professional standards, strong multidisciplinary collaboration and engaged staff?

Our valued chief nurse for many years is retiring, and therefore we are seeking a new chief nurse who, with visible and presence leadership, can maintain and further develop our strong professional culture.

We are looking for a leader who puts people first, and who together with the staff wishes to develop both the geriatric specialty, the work environment and the quality of patient care.

About Department of Geriatric Diseases G1

The Inpatient Ward for Geriatric Diseases G1 is a well-functioning ward with 24 beds located in modern and inviting premises.

We provide care and treatment for the elderly medical patient and also receive patients over 65 years with hip fractures. Our patient pathways have an average duration of about one week, and we work every day to ensure safe, cohesive and patient-safe pathways.

The staff group consists of both experienced and newer colleagues, all sharing a strong interest in geriatrics. We continuously work with development and quality projects that strengthen geriatric nursing and contribute to a professionally inspiring environment. In addition, we have a strong educational environment with a focus on students, trainees and competence development.

Your role as Chief Nurse

As chief nurse you will have a central role in ensuring the daily operations, quality and development of the ward.

As a leader you are responsible for staff, finances, operations and the ongoing development of the ward. You manage to balance strategic goals with daily leadership close to the employees. You are a visible and approachable leader who can create direction, engagement and well-being

Who will you lead together with?

You will join as ward management in a close and good managerial community with the ward's chief physician.

You will also become part of the department's management group, where chief nurses, head physicians and lead therapists collaborate to develop both patient care, the work environment and the organization.

We work across disciplines

Interdisciplinarity is a natural part of everyday life in G1. You will lead a department where collaboration between nursing staff, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and secretaries is strong and well-functioning.

We are looking for a chief nurse who

  • Has management experience
  • Has a relevant leadership education or wishes to complete one
  • Has an interest in developing the geriatric specialty
  • Can translate strategic goals into meaningful daily practice
  • Has financial understanding and a sense for efficient operations
  • Thrives in multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Is passionate about creating good patient pathways and high professional quality
  • Can sustain job satisfaction, well-being and the good working environment

We offer

  • Possibility for relevant leadership training
  • Leadership of a committed and professionally strong staff group
  • A well-functioning ward with high employee satisfaction and a strong professional culture
  • Close multidisciplinary collaboration across professions
  • Good opportunities for professional and leadership development
  • Close collaboration with the head physician on operations, quality and development
  • Participation in an ambitious and well-functioning multidisciplinary leadership team

Why choose us?

With us you have the opportunity to make a real difference for both patients and staff. You will lead a highly specialized ward with engaged staff, strong professional traditions and a shared desire to continually develop for the benefit of older patients.

Medicine 3 and Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy

The Inpatient Ward for Geriatric Diseases G1 is part of Medicine 3 and the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.

The department is led by the departmental management, consisting of Lisbeth Schrøder and Benedikte Wanscher, and also comprises the units: Geriatric Diseases Ward G2, Neurological Inpatient Ward, Geriatric Outpatient Clinic and Memory Clinic, and Neurological Outpatient Clinic, all located in Slagelse, and the Center for Neurorehabilitation, located in Næstved.
