About the job
At Horsens City School we are looking for a department head who is passionate about young people, strong communities and the development of the public school. We are seeking a department head who will help shape an attractive and well-profiled department for students in years 5-9, and at the same time be a visible and approachable staff leader for the employees.
You will play a central role in the development of Phase 2 in the Fussingsvej department, where the ambitions are high, the collaboration is strong, and where we work every day to create the best opportunities for our students.
You will become part of a strong, well-functioning and professional leadership team with a good leadership community, where sparring, trust and shared responsibility go hand in hand. We believe that good leadership is not an individual discipline, but something we succeed at together. This means, among other things, that we spar with each other, share responsibility and challenges and, together, find solutions when the task calls for it.
A special opportunity to set direction
As department head you will be responsible for years 5-9, and you will become an important driving force in the work to develop the profiles and learning environments of the upper school.
We want to strengthen the students' academic achievement, motivation, formation and learning, so that we together create meaning, direction and attractive options for the students. At the same time, you will help continue our work with sustainable welfare, where quality, community and action-oriented solutions go hand in hand.
Your key tasks
You will work at the intersection of staff leadership, student matters, administrative leadership and school development.
Among your tasks are
- Staff leadership and employee development in Phase 2
- Continue the development of a strong and attractive upper-school profile for the school's students
- Leadership of learning and development processes based on data and research
- Work with sustainable solutions and task-oriented use of resources
- Administrative tasks related to the department, including final exams, planning and coordination in close collaboration with the school’s administrative staff
- Collaboration with staff, students and parents through inclusive and transparent processes
- Coordination of the cross-over from Department Kildegade to Fussingsvej so that students experience a safe and coherent transition
- Active participation in cross-departmental collaboration forums and networks, where particularly collaboration with external partners is an important part
About you
We are looking for a leader who is passionate about the students and making a difference. You are trained as a teacher, and have either leadership experience or a strong desire to develop yourself as a leader.
You have insight into the particular tasks and challenges associated with years 5-9, and you are able to create clear direction and followership around the school's goals. As a person you are approachable, relational and clear, and you thrive in creating frames in which others can succeed and grow.
You work systematically, keep an overview in a day-to-day life with many stakeholders, and you are able to translate ambitions into action in a varied everyday life. At the same time you are a strong collaborator who builds trusting relationships and sees value in achieving results together with others. You are motivated by development, have a solution-oriented view of challenges and want to help shape the future of the public school through strong professional communities and sustainable solutions.
