Head of Department for the Children and Youth Center Vejle Fjord

Are you a skilled social pedagogue with leadership experience from residential care, then read on! We need you to lead the Udsigten department with seven children and young people placed in 24-hour care.

About the job

Children and Youth Center Vejle Fjord is seeking a pedagogically skilled, ambitious and meaningful leader to serve as department head for our 24-hour department, Udsigten in Bredballe.

As department head you will be responsible for the social-pedagogical treatment and development as well as staff management in the department. concretely, you will plan and run staff meetings, performance and development interviews, and provide relevant sparring to the pedagogical staff. The starting point for the work is the individual treatment plans for the children in the 24-hour department. In other words, you are responsible for ensuring that agreements and plans are followed up, evaluated and adjusted. You are close to the pedagogical practice.

You participate in intake meetings, hold admission meetings, status meetings and discharge meetings and work systematically and quality-consciously with documentation.

You also take on responsibility for solving a number of administrative management tasks, including ensuring the department’s budget. Other administrative management tasks include managing the petty cash, creating work hour plans and vacation plans and coordinating the staff’s working hours and meeting schedules in collaboration with the administrative time-planner.

The ideal candidate has experience with specialized and specially arranged social-pedagogical treatment of children with profound attachment disorders and diverse symptom expressions. You are anchored in a solid professional foundation and are able to distinguish between the immediate symptom picture and underlying conditions. You are also able to help staff regulate the nervous system and ensure that the professional working hypotheses and daily pedagogical practice are based on solid analyses, including supported by ongoing treatment conferences facilitated by the internal psychologists.

• That you have relevant leadership experience, preferably from a residential institution for placed children and young people,
• That you have broad social-pedagogical knowledge and experience within the special educational field,
• That you can guide and advise staff in the pedagogical work,
• That you work purposefully and loyally with each individual child’s development goals and the strategic goals for the department, the institution (the board) and the administration,
• That you collaborate smoothly and constructively with both parents and networks as well as interdisciplinary partners,
• That you work systematically and structured with administrative tasks,

About us

Children and Youth Center Vejle Fjord is a self-governing social-pedagogical children's and youth home under KFUM’s Sociale Arbejde, which has entered into a management agreement with Vejle Municipality. Children and Youth Center Vejle Fjord has about 130 staff, and there are about 40 placed children and youths.

The leadership group consists of the director, development consultant, 4 (24-hour) department heads, 1 head of the practical-administrative team and the substitute corps, 1 head of the outpatient team/visitation house, 1 head of quality assurance, 1 school principal and 1 pedagogical leader in the school. In addition, there are internal social workers, psychologists and coordinators.

Children and Youth Center Vejle Fjord also accepts children and youths aged 4 - 18. The children who live with us have massive difficulties, typically as a result of their upbringing conditions.

The children live in 4 different houses with unit divisions in Brejning and Bredballe. The houses are homes for the children for a shorter or longer period.

Department Udsigten is a 24-hour department with space for 7 children and youths. The department has a special focus on establishing a safe and warm environment for placed children and youths while maintaining a clear individual structured everyday life. The treatment effort is planned based on fixed treatment conferences for each child. The children are usually placed for a longer period. The department is physically located on the main campus in Bredballe.

Children and Youth Center Vejle Fjord also has an internal school with space for 42 students, just as there is a visitation house that supports visits between the children and their families and contributes to making visitation a good experience.
