Head of Education for the Teacher Education, Skive

Here you will have the opportunity, together with skilled leadership colleagues and staff, to create the framework for an attractive study and working environment and to make your mark on the future teacher students.

We are seeking, from 1 January 2027, an experienced and development-oriented leader who can see opportunities, but also solve small and large problems, think strategically and continue the work with the development of both the school-based and the ordinary teacher education in Skive, as well as the development of the teacher education across VIA. That is also in Aarhus, Silkeborg, Holstebro and Nr. Nissum. A leader who both understands education, teaching and studies – and also understands finances and operations.

Varied tasks and broad leadership responsibilities

The tasks as educational leader are diverse and wide-ranging. In general, you will be responsible for working with strategic development and leadership of both the Teacher Education at VIA and the local study location in Skive. The tasks below therefore concern both the overall teacher education at VIA and the specific provision in Skive.

Examples of tasks

• Teaching and study leadership – including working with study regulations, annual plans, tests and examinations, retention, drop-out, etc.
• Quality work, development of strategic action plans
• Recruitment and marketing
• Personnel leadership and development, staff well-being and job satisfaction
• Collaboration with students, teachers and study administration in daily life as well as with councils and committees
• Preparation of budgets, follow-up on accounts, etc. in cooperation with the financial partner

You will be the full-time leader on site and will in daily cooperation with the practicum coordinator and the subject-pedagogical coordinator, study counsellor, leadership partner and the rest of the staff at the campus.

You will also be part of the leadership team for the entire Teacher Education at VIA, consisting of educational leaders for Silkeborg, Holstebro and Nr. Nissum, Aarhus and hf Nørre Nissum, the financial partner, as well as the dean of education, which you report to.

You will also become part of the national collaboration around Teacher Education within the Danish University Colleges and the Teacher Education Leadership Network (LLN).

When you start in the position, you will be assigned a experienced leader as mentor and sparring partner, who will help you get well into both the tasks and the organization.

Our expectations of you are that

• you have experience with educational leadership and understanding of both education and leadership of teachers/knowledge workers – insight into primary school and/or teacher education is an advantage
• you have a relevant education, also preferably a leadership qualification
• you are both development-oriented and persistent in daily work
• you are collaborative, a good communicator both orally and in writing, including that you are the face of teacher education in media and other communication platforms
• you can act in high complexity and make decisions both quickly and slowly – aligned with what the context requires
• you can involve and delegate in collaboration with staff and students
• you have experience with and a sense for collaboration with local stakeholders in the educational sector

About us

The Skive Teacher Education is physically located at Dalgas Allé 20 with good study facilities, including modern teaching rooms and well-developed subject rooms and has 109 students and 8 teachers.

The Skive Teacher Education has an experienced and engaged teaching staff who work well together in daily life. There is also a very strong collaboration with local schools regarding internships and practice in the surrounding municipalities. The Skive Teacher Education started in August 2025 a school-based teacher education, which operates side by side with the ordinary education – development and consolidation of both offerings remains a focus area.

The Skive Teacher Education is also a center for education, continuing education and course activities, lectures, and other cultural events within its coverage area.

The Skive Teacher Education is part of a lively educational environment, where the language center and Mercantec also have activities.

Salary and terms

Salary and terms of employment are determined in accordance with the agreement on the appointment of managers at institutions within teaching, education and research in the Ministry of Education and Research area. The position is a permanent position with no upper limit on working hours.

Main workplace will as a rule be at Dalgas Allé 20, Skive. A number of activities in the Central Denmark Region should be expected, so a driving license and own car are required.

We expect to have you start on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
