About the job

It requires both political acumen and a strong overview of processes to be close to the decisions, to make complex processes hang together and to navigate safely when priorities shift. If you can see yourself in the description, you may be our new secretariat chief in the Social Administration.

The Social Administration, with its 7,000 employees, is Denmark's largest social administration. We work so that socially vulnerable children, young people, adults and people with disabilities have the opportunity to live good and independent lives. Therefore we help citizens quickly and with the least possible intrusion toward increased life mastery.

As Secretariat Chief in the Leadership Secretariat and Communication, you will lead a sharp secretariat, where together with the head of communications and press you will be responsible for both the overall political and administrative support and for leading the secretariat. This means you set the direction and ensure coherence in task execution, create good conditions for the staff, and contribute strategically and constructively to the leadership across the administration and the City of Copenhagen.

You lead both people and processes

The Leadership Secretariat and Communication consists of two departments, Mayor, Committee and Directorate Support, which are led by the secretariat chief, and Communications and Press, which are led by the head of communications and press.

The Leadership Secretariat and Communication plays a central role in servicing the Social Committee of Copenhagen, the social mayor and the executive. The secretariat coordinates and ensures progress on political and strategic agendas. In addition, Leadership Secretariat and Communication handles internal and external communications and press management across the entire administration.

As secretariat chief you ensure that the organisation delivers solid decision bases on time, that political orders are translated into clear processes, and that decisions and priorities are followed up. In other words, you set the direction for the task, determine who should have what when, put the right expertise into play and ensure delivery.

You have direct staff responsibility for about ten employees with different professional backgrounds and duties. It requires continued focus on strengthening cross-secretariat collaboration and continuing the good work of supporting a culture where one looks beyond one’s own task and takes responsibility for the overall task solving.

You are also the line manager for the head of communications and press, and together you form the management team of the secretariat. You are part of the administration leadership, which consists of the executive and center managers from the administration's six operations centers and five administrative centers, and you report directly to the managing director.
