Head of the Daycare Services Area at Albertslund Municipality

As the head of the early childhood sector, you will play a central role in the continued development of quality in the kindergartens and in expanding capacity in line with the city’s growth. We are looking for a leader who can create direction, coherence, and followership across the area. A leader who has in-depth knowledge of the operation and development of early childhood education and can translate ambitions and decisions into meaningful practice for children, families, staff, and leaders.

Who we are in Daycare & School

As the leader, you will be responsible for the development of Albertslund Municipality’s early childhood area in close interaction with daycare leaders, the administration, and the political level.

Albertslund has high ambitions for the early childhood area. The Strengthened General (Styrket Almen) program sets a clear direction with a focus on high quality in the pedagogical learning environments, children’s language development, opportunities for all children to participate, strong communities, and good transitions between daycare and school. At the same time, the area faces implementing a new early childhood policy for 2027-30, which will form the basis for the coming years’ development.

In the coming years, Albertslund is also expected to gain more residents and more families with children, which calls for both capacity and long-term planning in the early childhood area. As the leader you will play a central role in ensuring that the daycare area develops in step with the city’s growth through the development of both existing and new daycare facilities.

Access to educated pedagogical staff is crucial for the quality of the daycare facilities. As a leader, you will therefore work to create attractive workplaces and strong professional environments that can attract and retain staff across the daycare area.

Through leadership and sparring with the area’s daycare leaders, you will help translate national, municipal, and administrative decisions into strong pedagogical practice. You will also support the leaders in creating good workplaces, high professional quality, and sustainable operations with sound financial management and a focus on data and results.

To succeed, it is essential that you can create coherence between the overall direction and the local reality in the daycares. As the leader of the area, you will create followership around common goals while supporting leaders with different experiences and strengths through visible, trustful, and approachable leadership.

Albertslund’s daycare area includes integrated day care centers, Dagplejen (home-based day care), and Børnehuset Baunegård, which houses a kindergarten, after-school care, and a club.

What we expect from our new leader of the daycare area

We are seeking a leader with professional ambitions, strong leadership competencies, and empathy. It is important that you have in-depth knowledge of the operation and development of daycare and can translate this understanding into direction, prioritization, and administrative support in day-to-day life.

You must be able to set a direction in an area with high ambitions and many development tasks while also being a present staff leader for the municipality’s daycare leaders and an administrative team responsible for, among other things, space allocation and bookkeeping.

We expect that you

• translate the municipality’s ambitions, including Strengthened General, into concrete priorities and actions close to pedagogical practice, and create an overview and prioritization in an area with many simultaneous tasks and development initiatives.
• create followership around common goals and support a strong leadership community where the leaders develop both their own daycare centers and the daycare area as a whole
• work analytically to translate knowledge about daycare quality, including learning from pedagogical inspections, into professional development and strong pedagogical learning environments for the children
• contribute to attractive workplaces and strong professional environments that can attract and retain educated pedagogical staff
• ensure good frameworks for effective daycare administration with high professional quality and reliable service delivery
• think and act holistically and contribute to coherence across daycare, schools, practice support, and the administration with a view to shared solutions and shared responsibility for all children and youth.

• an organization with high ambitions for leadership and a focus on leadership sparring, leadership development, and strong leadership communities.

Salary placement is by agreement between the municipality and the negotiating organization.

Albertslund Municipality has a smoke-free working time policy.

Albertslund Municipality supports fully the full-time effort under the Tripartite Agreement on Wages and Working Conditions, and the municipality therefore hires primarily at 37 hours as a rule.
