About the job
As head of the day care area, you will play a central role in the continued development of the quality of the day care services and in expanding capacity in line with the city's growth. We are looking for a leader who can create direction, coherence and followership across the area. A leader who has an in-depth knowledge of the day care area and can translate ambitions and decisions into meaningful practice for children, families, employees and leaders.
Albertslund is a green municipality with big ambitions. We are proud of our municipality and strive in our tasks and efforts for citizens, associations and businesses. We are one municipality and one organization. We have engaged and capable employees and a collaborative culture that crosses areas and levels. This makes Albertslund Municipality a good place to work.
Who we are in Daycare & School
As a leader you will be responsible for developing Albertslund Municipality's day care area in close interaction with daycare leaders, the administration and the political level.
Albertslund has high ambitions for the day care area. The Strengthened General program sets a clear direction with a focus on high quality in the pedagogical learning environments, children's linguistic development, participation opportunities for all children, strong communities and smooth transitions between day care and school. At the same time, the area is faced with the implementation of a new day care policy for 2027-30, which will form the basis for the coming years' development.
The coming years are also expected to bring more residents and more families with children to Albertslund, which requires both capacity and long-term planning in the day care area. As a leader you will play a central role in ensuring that the day care area develops in step with the city's growth through the development of both existing and new day care facilities.
Access to educated pedagogical staff is crucial for the quality of the day care services. As a leader you will therefore work to create attractive workplaces and strong professional environments that can attract and retain employees across the day care area.
Through leadership and sparring with the area's day care leaders you will help ensure that national, municipal and administrative decisions are translated into strong pedagogical practice. You will also support the leaders in creating good workplaces, high professional quality and sustainable operations with sound financial management and a focus on data and results.
To succeed, it is essential that you can create coherence between the overarching direction and the local reality in the day care centers. As the area leader you must create followership around common goals while supporting leaders with diverse experiences and strengths through visible, trust-based and presence-based leadership.
Albertslund's day care area includes both integrated day care institutions, the Day Care Service (Dagplejen) and Børnehuset Baunegård, which houses both a kindergarten, after-school care and a club.
What we expect from our new leader of the day care area
We are looking for a leader with professional ambitions, strong leadership skills and empathy. It is important that you have good knowledge of the operation and development of day care and can translate this understanding into direction, prioritization and administrative support in everyday work.
You must be able to create direction in an area with high ambitions and many development tasks while also being a present manager for the municipality's day care leaders and an administrative team with responsibility for, among other things, space allocation and bookkeeping.
We expect that you
- translate the municipality's ambitions, including the Strengthened General, into concrete priorities and actions close to the pedagogical practice and create overview and prioritization in an area with many simultaneous tasks and development initiatives.
- create followership around common goals and support a strong management community, where the leaders develop both their own day care houses and the day care area as a whole
- work analytically to translate knowledge about day care quality, including learning from pedagogical inspections, into professional development and strong pedagogical learning environments for the children
- contribute to attractive workplaces and strong professional environments that can attract and retain educated pedagogical staff
- ensure good conditions for effective day care administration with high professional quality and reliable operational task solving
- think and act in a holistic way and contribute to coherence across day care, schools, practice support and the administration with an eye for common solutions and shared responsibility for all children and youth.
What we offer
- managerial responsibility for 13 leaders and the opportunity to further develop a strong leadership community characterized by professionalism, sparring, reflection and shared responsibility for developing the day care area.
- a central role in the continued development of Strengthened General and the implementation of Albertslund Municipality's new day care policy 2027-30.
- responsibility for leading a team of four administrative staff and the continued development of a service-oriented and reliable support for the day care area.
- a close collaboration in the leadership team in Daycare & School, where you together with the department head, the deputy head, a unit leader and a staff head contribute to the joint leadership and development of Daycare & School.
- an organization with high ambitions for leadership and a focus on leadership sparring, leadership development and strong leadership communities.
