About the job
The head of the Nature Department is primarily

The summer half-year is peak season at the Nature School, where alongside daily operations there are many visits from traveling groups, school camps, etc. In addition, many public events are held.
Almost all nature maintenance on Samsø takes place on others' land, so it is important that you have good collaboration skills and can express yourself clearly – also in writing.

The Nature Department is a highly visible actor in the local area due to its tasks and has a very large contact surface, which also includes traveling groups and tourists.
The Nature Department has in recent years participated in several projects, some of them inter-municipal. This concerns participation in Naturpark Svanegrund, the East Jutland Sea Cooperation and via a cooperation agreement with the Danish Nature Agency on maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities will mainly consist of the following
- Operations of Samsø Nature School and nature interpretation.
- Staff leadership and financial management.
- Responsible for internal and cross-cutting development projects with a focus on nature and the environment, as well as contributing with natural aspects in the green tripartite.
- A large contact surface to local actors, associations and landowners. The Nature Department acts as the secretariat for the Green Council in Samsø Municipality.
- Broad collaboration across departments and with other municipalities.
We expect from you
- That you can work independently and in a structured way.
- That you are willing and able to engage in collaboration with institutions, local landowners, associations and other partners.
- That you have good leadership skills, which you can use in your own department as well as in the management team and the municipality's leadership forum.
- That you have an interest in nature interpretation.
- That you are prepared to work in a politically governed system, with the demands and expectations this entails.
- That you are prepared for varying working hours.
We offer you
- An exciting daily life with a wide range of professional tasks.
- A collegial community that can support your work.
- Great flexibility and responsibility for managing your own workday.
- A well-run and highly regarded Nature Department.
You will be employed in the Technical Administration, which consists of five areas with around 60 employees, who work with authority, planning, road and property service, renovation, port operations, nature tasks and projects.
