About the job

Do you want to lead Practice Economics in the new Health Group?

Do you want to head the financial management of an annual budget of DKK 13.5 billion while leading a professionally strong unit with responsibility for forecasts, budget follow-up and settlement to providers in the practice sector? Can you balance operations safely while also driving development in a complex area? Then we would like to hear from you.

At the turn of the year, Region North Zealand and Region Zealand will become Region East Denmark. This means that new organizations, collaborations and workflows must be created across – and that we get the opportunity to think about functions and solutions in new ways.

A central leadership task

In the Health Group we are looking for an ambitious and experienced unit head for Practice Economics and Settlement.

You will have the overall responsibility for financial management in one of the health care system’s most complex economic areas and an area that, with the reform, is under strong development as more citizens are treated in local health care. The practice area is characterized by a demand-driven economy where activity, demographics and changes in citizens’ demands interact with collective agreement frameworks.

Therefore, financial management in the area requires both substantial understanding and insight into both financial and collective-bargaining governance, and the task can only be performed well through close collaboration across several units and professional competencies.

Your task will be to ensure high quality in budgeting and budget follow-up as well as robust forecasts that give management and politicians a solid basis for decision-making. You must be able to translate financial and activity data into assessments of expected expenditure development and identify risks and opportunities at an early stage.

At the same time, you will be responsible for ensuring that settlements to the practice sector’s providers function in a stable, correct and timely manner. This includes general practice, medical specialists, physiotherapists, dentists and other practice areas.

Finally, you must have drive and a sharp eye for development and collaboration. This applies in your day-to-day operations – but also externally, e.g. within Danske Regioner, in cross-region collaboration and in cooperation with external partners.

In other words, you should be able to set direction and create coherence between finance, activity, operations and health policy goals.

Your tasks

As unit head you will among other things be responsible for

  • Leading and developing the unit professionally, organizationally and with personnel focus on well-being, quality and results
  • Overall budgeting, budget follow-up and financial reporting
  • Preparing forecasts and decision papers for management and politicians
  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities and translating them into management information and recommendations
  • Ensuring stable, correct and timely settlements to the practice sector’s providers
  • Accounts, bookkeeping, invoice handling, appropriations changes and central financial systems
  • Creating results through collaboration with the practice sector, internal staff and other health areas
  • Set direction, prioritize and create coherence across the finance and settlement area.

You will have close managerial interaction with the section head of the unit, who has an independent professional and operational responsibility for the settlement area, including provider administration, fee settlement and system administration as well as cross-regional collaboration on the settlement system. The section head reports to you. In addition, you will have staff directly reporting to you. There are 34 employees in the unit.

You will become part of the Health Group leadership, which consists of the management, 13 unit heads and 18 section chiefs. You report to the Director of Health Group, Charlotte Hosbond.

Leadership in the Health Group

As a leader in the Health Group, we expect that you

  • Can exercise strategic leadership and translate goals and ambitions into action
  • Are a qualified sparring partner for the political level, the corporate management and the executive board
  • Actively contribute to the overall management group and take joint responsibility for the whole across
  • Can navigate safely among many stakeholders and partners both inside and outside the region
  • Are curious about the reality that characterizes, for example, the hospitals and other units in the regions, as well as in cross-sector collaboration with others
  • Create trust, direction and engagement through a clear, relational and inclusive leadership style.

Your profile

We imagine that you

  • Have a relevant higher education in economics, social science or the like
  • Have solid experience with financial management, budgeting, budget follow-up and forecast work
  • Have leadership experience and experience in leading employees with strong professional competencies
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the practice area’s financial mechanisms and complex governance conditions – or experience from a similarly complex, demand-driven area
  • Understand the interaction between activity, economy, agreements and health care objectives
  • Can translate complex financial issues into clear decision bases
  • Can balance strategic development with safe operations and high quality.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of regional financial management and the health sector, but most important is that you have the financial professional strength, leadership experience and organizational understanding required to succeed in the role.

Part of building something new

With the establishment of Region East Denmark on 1 January 2027 you will be part of Denmark’s largest region with around 2.8 million citizens and more than 65,000 employees.

The merger provides a unique opportunity to help shape a new organization, new collaborations and new ways of solving tasks.

As of 1 January 2027 Practice Economics and Settlement will have bases in Sorø and Hillerød. Together with you we will agree where your primary base should be.

You must be prepared for ongoing meetings and tasks around the region, even though many daily tasks are solved digitally.
