About the job

Who are we?

The geriatric part of the Geriatric and Palliative Department GP consists of the following:

  • 2 ward units normed to 32 beds on the Bispebjerg campus
  • Geriatric Receiving Ward in the Emergency Department where patients are received by a multidisciplinary geriatric team in an elderly-friendly reception ward
  • Cross-sector geriatrics in collaboration with Frederiksberg and Copenhagen Municipality regarding a permanent ward-round function at the municipality's acute and rehabilitation beds
  • Orthogeriatric function is carried out in a close and well-functioning collaboration between the Geriatric Department and the Orthopaedic Department on a joint ward
  • Outpatient geriatric team, outbound hip team and outbound outpatient team
  • Geriatric Research Unit
  • Geriatric outpatient clinic, located on the Frederiksberg campus, includes Memory Unit, Falls Clinic and Geriatric assessment.
  • Joint medical outpatient clinic with the aim of creating rapid diagnostic pathways for patients with unresolved disease pictures as well as treatment pathways for patients with parallel pathways in many departments: multimorbidity track, hip track, polypharmacy track and dyspnea track
  • Additionally, a close collaboration has been established with Bornholms Hospital regarding the development of geriatrics on the island

We are seeking two visionary and development-oriented specialists (department head / consultant), who will help develop and expand the department's areas of focus

Who are you?

The health structure reform has strengthened geriatrics and the functions of geriatrics in relation to both the local health system but also in relation to reducing health inequalities across the Region for older, complex, medical patients. Our department has for several years had close collaboration with both of our intake municipalities regarding strengthening the medical input at the temporary 24-hour beds with very good results. In addition, the department as part of the partnership agreement between BFH and Bornholm Hospital has supported the development and opening of a geriatric function on the island.

As a prospective specialist at our department, we imagine that you—along with your professional and collegial engagement—have a desire to influence and define the department's profile, preferably with a focus on the above focus areas.

You will, depending on interests and qualifications, participate in work in one of the department's wards corresponding to 80% of the working time.

The remaining approximately 20% of the working time you will either join a fixed rotation of specialists on our temporary 24-hour beds (SOP about 1 week per month) or have a fixed weekly working day (day work plus transport both ways) in the geriatric function at Bornholm Hospital as part of the partnership between BFH and BOH.

Qualifications

  • Specialist in Internal Medicine: geriatrics
  • Flexibility, engagement and a desire to think new
  • Good collaboration skills and respect for others
  • Good communication both within and across disciplines as well as professionalism
  • Interest in education of younger doctors and medical students
  • Interest in developing the geriatric area in collaboration with the other specialists in the department, across disciplines, sectors and the Region

Terms

The medical staff at BFH consists of a total of 20 geriatric specialists, 17 resident doctors and 5 KBU doctors. In addition, 2 research professors, 1 research fellow and 1 chief physician. We provide education for medical students at the 1st and 5th semester candidate level, and have two lecturers attached.

At BOH there are 2 specialists in geriatrics

The position includes duty as a Joint Medical on-call, covering the medical area at BFH or medical on-call function at BOH. Both parts are covered in collaboration between the 5 medical departments at BFH and—in BOH's case—the medical department at BOH.

In addition, extended daytime work in the Elderly Receiving Ward to 21:00/18:00 weekends/holidays approx every 12th day may be expected.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the agreement between the Regions' Payroll and Tariff Board and respectively Younger doctors/FAS.

Applicants are asked to relate to the 7 doctor roles in their application.

Further information about the position can be obtained by contacting Chief Physician Eckart Pressel, tel: 21653242, e-mail: [email protected] .
