Inclusive Children's Culture Mediator for the School Sector

At Brøndby Culture Houses and Libraries we take children and their reading seriously, and we do our best every day to create lively learning spaces in an inspiring and inclusive way.

We are looking for you who are passionate about creating outreach in collaboration with schools and for children and young people aged 6-15 years. You know about the initiatives and development projects that libraries in the country work with in the school sector and can translate knowledge and experience into relevant and exciting outreach to the schools in Brøndby Municipality.

What will you do?

You will become part of Team Children and Families, which works with outreach and offerings for children and young people aged 0-16 years. There will be 8 colleagues in the team, where each contributes with their focus area and professional expertise to reach the common goal. The Förstadsmuseum, which is part of our organization, will also be one of your regular collaboration surfaces.

You will be responsible for developing, planning and implementing activities in collaboration with the school sector, so that even more children and young people get exciting and relevant encounters with literature.

Your primary tasks will be to

• Further develop and cultivate new collaborations with the school sector
• Create activities and outreach together with the school sector and children and young people of school age, with a focus on reading appetite and reading culture
• Develop projects aimed at relevant development funds, including contributing to the application process and planning
• Be host in our library lending and at activities
• Develop outreach to children and their families in their spare time and during holidays with a focus on learning and communities together with our children event team

Our wish is that the position will strengthen and develop our collaboration with the school sector with a particular focus on developing strong and sustainable offers with high volume.

A little about you

We would prefer not to formalize who you are - the most important thing is that you are passionate about children and young people, reading and culture and have experience from the field.

We would be very happy if you can bridge disciplines and see opportunities in collaboration. You should be passionate in your outreach to children and young people and have plenty of good ideas for how we put our collection to use and get even more children to read and be part of meaningful communities.

It would be an advantage if you have experience with binding collaboration across organizations, e.g., collaboration with municipal administration, external cultural actors or similar. It is also beneficial to have experience with or knowledge of project and process management.

You should have a relevant educational background such as librarian, cand.scient.bibl., cand.mag or equivalent.

Brøndby Culture Houses and Libraries are Kulturhuset Brønden in Brøndby Strand, Kulturhuset Kilden in Brøndbyøster and Brøndby Libraries, which are located together with the two culture houses and a smaller library in Brøndbyvester.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and qualifications.

The job is full-time with flexible working hours.

There will be evening and weekend work in connection with the running of events and activities.

There is an outreach shift every 3rd-4th Saturday and Sunday opening in the winter months.
