Instructor positions in Quantitative Methods

Institute for Social Sciences and Business, Roskilde University, hereby announces a position as an instructor on the social sciences bachelor's degree program with teaching in the course Kvantitativ metode (BK8) in 4th semester. The position is to be filled as of February 1, 2027. The teaching takes place in the spring, 10 Fridays (10:15-14:00) in the period from early February to mid-April. In addition, a question-and-answer session is held before the exam.

There is a meeting before the course starts, where we go through the teaching plan, and an evaluation meeting after the course ends. The appointments include both confrontation hours and preparation time (including reading and feedback on an assignment in the course).

The course Quantitative Methods comprises competencies in applying quantitative methods to analyze social science quantitative data as well as using the statistical software STATA to process and analyze quantitative empirical data. The course will provide an introduction to survey method, descriptive statistics, statistical standard distributions, hypothesis testing with statistical methods for analysis of relationships between categorical, ordinal and continuous variables, including chi-squared, t-tests, Pearson's r and OLS regression.

After the course lectures in the large auditorium, the students have exercises conducted in 4 groups. The exercises are 2 x 45 minutes in duration and the exercise material is prepared in advance. The task for the teaching assistants is, together with a scientific staff member, to support the students in solving the tasks and answering questions from the students. We therefore expect the instructors to:

• be familiar with statistics
• be experienced users of STATA
• work together with the lecturers and participate in the course lectures

Qualifications

Applicants must have an interest in and knowledge of quantitative methods. They must also be accustomed to working with STATA. In addition, the instructors must be able to communicate to a larger audience.

Terms of employment

Your employment is in accordance with the applicable agreement for student instructors at universities etc. entered into between the Ministry of Finance and the Association of Student Employees and the Association of Danish Medical Students and the local agreements entered into with them.
