About the job

Are you pursuing a higher education and going to internship in spring 2027? Do you want to get close to the work with policy development in a ministry that handles the development of one of the most central areas in the welfare society? And do you want to try your hand at political support and knowledge work in the central administration? Then you may be the intern we are looking for at the Center for Primary Schools in the Ministry of Education's department.

About the Center for Primary Schools

In the Center for Primary Schools we work with policy development and political support for the minister and the Parliament in the primary school area, i.e. both the public school and the forms of independent schools. The centre plays a central role in relation to idea development and launching new initiatives in the primary school area. The primary school area is very prominent politically and in the media, and therefore you as an intern will have the opportunity to work with many ad hoc tasks such as contributions to ministerial cases and responding to citizen inquiries.

Overall, we in the center are about 30 employees and two heads of office distributed across two offices as well as a secretariat for follow-up on PISA.

About the tasks

Through the tasks you will gain a broad insight into the work in the central administration and in a ministry. The tasks vary between long lead-time tasks and day-to-day matters, which can include:

  • preparation of material for use in the department's ongoing cases such as meeting materials and background notes
  • preparation of drafts for responses to inquiries from citizens and organizations
  • contributions to knowledge-building and larger analyses within the primary school area
  • general ministerial support such as readiness for the minister's meetings, assist with contributions to responses to parliamentary questions, preparation of committee materials and handling of decision proposals
  • planning and holding meetings, conferences and workshops
  • various ad-hoc tasks

About you

You are studying a relevant Master's program, e.g. political science, sociology, education science or similar. We expect that you have an interest in politics and societal issues, preferably education policy, seek academic challenges and want to develop your competences in working in a ministry. In addition, we expect that you:

  • have good written communication skills and among other things are good at communicating complex material in an accessible way in notes, reports, press releases etc.
  • have an interest in political processes as well as the primary school area
  • can work independently and in a structured way, but also in close collaboration with others
  • thrive on a mix of routine and complex tasks
  • are good at maintaining an overview, even when things move fast

Conditions for the internship

The internship is unpaid, and it is a condition that the internship with us is credited towards your studies. The internship runs typically from February 2027 to and including June 2027.

The working hours are typically 37 hours per week, but there is naturally flexibility in connection with, for example, internship reports and examination periods.

The place of work is Frederiksholms Kanal 25, 1220 Copenhagen K.
