POSITION OVERVIEW

Intern

Intern for conflict analysis and risk assessment (Spring 2027)

Can you see where a conflict is heading – and what it takes to stop it? Become an intern at RIKO in Spring 2027, and translate analyses of conflicts and risks into concrete recommendations.

We are looking for you who want to translate analyses of conflicts and risks into concrete recommendations for Danish decision-makers. You will work closely with RIKO’s council of researchers and practitioners. You will also be part of the editorial team behind RIKO’s podcast and council meetings.

RIKO – The Council for International Conflict Resolution – is an independent foreign policy think tank. We work for handling international conflicts with non-military means: conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation and dialogue based on the latest research. RIKO is 100% volunteer-driven.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current conflicts: drivers, actors, risks and possible scenarios
  • Write short publications (max 3 pages) with recommendations based on RIKO’s council meetings
  • Conduct research and background notes for the host and participants in RIKO’s podcast
  • Find sharp angles and questions for council meetings and podcast episodes together with the editorial team
  • Follow selected conflicts and write short analyses for the newsletter and social media

About you

  • You are studying e.g. disaster and risk management, peace and conflict studies, political science, global studies or international studies
  • You are analytical and write clearly and concisely in Danish
  • You are interested in international conflicts, security policy and preparedness
  • You are independent and take initiative
  • Experience with risk assessment, scenario analysis or other analytical work is a plus

We offer

  • Real responsibility from day one and publications with your name on them
  • Close collaboration with researchers, diplomats and practitioners in RIKO’s council
  • Experience with both analysis and communication
  • A dedicated internship supervisor

Practical info

  • Period: February 1 – June 30, 2027 (weeks 6–26). Start, end and hours are adjusted to the requirements of your education.
  • Salary: The internship is unpaid and must fit into your education.
  • Workplace: RIKO’s office, Dronningensgade 14, 1420 Copenhagen K. Part of the collaboration takes place online because RIKO is volunteer-run.
  • Application: Send a short motivated application and your CV to Kristian Svendsen, daily coordinator, at [email protected]. Indicate your education and your weekly hours.
  • Deadline: We conduct interviews on a rolling basis, so please apply soon and no later than 16 November 2026.
