Do you want an internship that gives you both academic challenges, hands-on experience and a strong sense of community? As a trainee at LINAK, you will become part of a unique intern network and have the opportunity to work professionally with embedded software development in an international company.

Each semester we welcome 20–25 interns from different study programs. You will become part of the LINAK family and work closely with skilled colleagues. There are opportunities to work on both larger and smaller tasks, all arising from real problems in value-creating projects.

About the internship – embedded software development

We are looking for interns in embedded software development who are driven, eager to learn, and interested in working in a dynamic and committed development team. You will become part of a larger department with many nationalities and may work together with software, hardware, and test engineers.

Tasks may include

• participation in defining architecture for new software modules
• development, implementation and documentation of embedded software for new products
• further development and addition of new features in existing products
• assessment of hardware against software possibilities
• working with C and C++ according to LINAK coding standards
• requirements, design and code reviews as well as static analysis
• version control in SVN (Subversion)
• testing of units with GoogleTest and FFF
• product qualification via automated tests (Robot Framework) and manual tests
• work in Scrum teams with JIRA and deliveries into V-model project lifecycle

Projects

Varies depending on qualifications and interests. Here are a few examples of projects that previous interns have worked on:

• Building and further developing test equipment for automating product testing via Robot Framework and similar solutions, significantly reducing test time.
• Design, construction and commissioning of a specially developed test setup for desk legs (10 columns) for qualification and troubleshooting on IDS (Internal Desk Sensor) and DeskFrame2.

About you

To create the best possible match, we would like to know what motivates you about embedded software. You do not need to know everything in advance – the most important is that you:

• are pursuing a relevant engineering degree and are passionate about embedded software
• see opportunities rather than limitations
• want practical experience and a steep learning curve
• have a positive and approachable attitude
