Introductory position in gynecology and obstetrics. Secondment between Aalborg University Hospital's Gynecological-Obstetric Departments in Thisted and Aalborg

At the Gynecological-Obstetric Department, Thisted and the Gynecological-Obstetric Department, Aalborg, a 1-year introductory residency in gynecology and obstetrics is available for appointment on 1 January 2027.

The position is classified for specialty training in gynecology and obstetrics with the number 7603-10-38-i-01.

The position is constructed as a split residency between the Gynecological-Obstetric Department in Thisted and the Gynecological-Obstetric Department in Aalborg.

It is arranged so that the resident in the first 4 months will be active at the Gynecological-Obstetric Department in Thisted. Here the emphasis will primarily be on training in gynecological skills. The last 8 months of the position the training resident will be active at the Gynecological-Obstetric Department in Aalborg. Here the educational focus will mainly be directed toward obstetrics.

There is an approved training program for the position.

The medical staff consists of 9 specialists and 3 junior doctors.

The department's activity is approximately 550 deliveries per year, 12,000 outpatient contacts and 1,400 procedures.

In January 2027, we expect to start fertility treatment.

The department is characterized by a good working environment, where cooperation with colleagues from own and other professional groups is very functioning.

The department’s small size provides the opportunity for good knowledge of our training doctors' competencies. It offers a good and safe learning environment where we can arrange individual training measures.

The department has a primary function, regional function and highly specialized function within the gynecological-obstetric specialty.

• Gynecologic oncology
• Ultrasound diagnostics and prenatal fetal diagnostics

The department's medical staffing consists of 24 specialists and two professors. The number of training doctors varies between 15 and 20.

The department's activity is approximately 5,300 in-patient days (24-hour), 8,800 procedures and 3,200 deliveries.

The department has a good educational environment and a large amount of educational activity which the resident is expected to participate in.

Job title: Resident physician in an introductory residency.

Organizational placement: The resident is employed at the Gynecological-Obstetric Department, Thisted for the first 4 months. The next 8 months the resident is employed at the Gynecological-Obstetric Department, Aalborg.

Job tasks: The resident will be attached to the on-call team.

To ensure a thorough introduction to the specialty, the job tasks will encompass a wide range of functions. Thus, the resident is expected to participate in outpatient work, acute gynecological tasks, surgeries, teaching, incidental tasks, as well as to have a function on the delivery ward.

Salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement.

The hospitals assist with housing arrangements. Nordjylland Regional Hospital and Aalborg University Hospital are both smoke-free.
