Introductory positions in internal medicine, cardiology (HE Midt)

Two introductory positions, job numbers 6630-50-01-i-18 and 6630-50-01-i-19 in Cardiology, Midt Regional Hospital is available for appointment as of March 1, 2027 or by agreement.

About the position

As an introductory physician in Cardiology at HE Midt you will receive

• First and foremost, broad experience in diagnostic assessment and treatment of acute and chronic cardiology patients and internal medicine patients across sub-specialties.

• Study leave granted for mandatory courses. Other course participation or focused stays by agreement.
• Possibility of introduction to cardiology research.
• Organized teaching with expected own teaching by the department's doctors every 4 months.
• Structured group-based competence assessment with participation of specialists and other training doctors.

About Cardiology, RH Viborg

Cardiology includes the Cardiology Ward with 29 beds and about 4,000 admissions annually, as well as the Cardiology Clinic in Viborg, Silkeborg and Skive with over 40,000 consultations (in person and virtual) annually. In Viborg there is a cardiology laboratory with pacemaker implantation. Cardiac CT is performed in Viborg and Silkeborg, as well as MR cardiac imaging in Silkeborg.

The Cardiology Clinics are divided into several sub-clinics (heart failure, atrial fibrillation, rehabilitation, inherited heart diseases, dyslipidemia, pediatric echocardiography, evaluation and treatment of pulmonary embolism and hypertension, AK-clinic and echocardiographic evaluation). Depending on interest and background there will be an opportunity to be attached to one or more of these clinics. There will always be a specialist in the subspecialty clinic where you work, with the possibility of supervision.

Cardiology has several internal and external conferences, where the introductory physician is expected to attend morning conference, valvular conference, ischemia and dyspnea conference. After attending two or more conferences, the introductory physician will be responsible for presenting individual patients at the conference under supervision of a more experienced colleague.

The department participates in student teaching across several semesters in clinical internal medicine in collaboration with Aarhus University. A role you are expected to undertake with a focus on students' competencies and development progression during their clinical stay.

The Medical Diagnostics Center (MDC) comprises three wards

• Medical Ward 1 (M1): Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Hepatology and Endocrinology with 28 beds.
• Medical Ward 2 (M2): Pulmonology and Infectious Diseases with 29 beds.
• Medical Ward 3 (M3): Geriatrics and Multimorbidity with 18 beds (currently 1 bed).

In addition, dialysis unit and several sub-specialty clinics.

During the 12-month appointment there is possible for the introductory physician to have one focused stay in one of the above internal medicine specialties for 3 months. The introductory physician may request within the medical sub-specialties. The remaining portion of the appointment will have clinical duties in Cardiology. Throughout the entire 12 months the introductory physician participates in the joint on-call between MDC and Cardiology (see below).

When you are attached to Cardiology HE Midt, you may serve at the Cardiology Ward RH Viborg, Cardiology Clinic Viborg, Cardiology Clinic Silkeborg and Cardiology Clinic Skive.

In the Emergency Department there are 26 medical beds. All acute medical patients except acute cardiology patients and dialysis patients are admitted via the Emergency Department. Acute cardiology patients are admitted directly to the Cardiology Ward, but may be initially assessed in the Cardiology Ward's Day Clinic or in the Emergency Department, according to the developed triage guidelines.

About on-call work at RH Viborg

Cardiology and MDC share on-call, and the introductory physician participates in the intra-shift with a shared on-call location. There is 24/7 presence for both the intra-shift and the back-up shift. The pre-shift is covered by doctors in the Clinical Basic Training, and the introductory physician may initially join the pre-shift team.

On-call duties include, in addition to work on Cardiology and MDC, receiving and following up medical patients in the Emergency Department. There is a specialist with emergency medicine function present in the on-call, and there is 24/7 medical on-call (off-site) and cardiology specialist on-call (on-site). In daytime service the introductory physician will work in the Cardiology Ward and in the Cardiology Clinic.

The appointment is made by Region Midtjylland with service up to now at Midt Hospital Unit, Cardiology. You will have a clinical role in Viborg, Silkeborg and Skive (primarily in Viborg and Silkeborg).
