About the job
Right now, Tårnby Municipality is in the middle of a youth initiative build-up, as we have prioritized creating a more cohesive, presence-driven, and effective effort for young people in Tårnby and Dragør.
We have a strong professional foundation. Lots of energy. And lots to do – therefore we also need you!
We are seeking an IPS consultant who is passionate about making a concrete difference for young people between 15 and 30 years who need a hands-on and individually tailored approach on the path towards education or ordinary work.
You will become part of a youth initiative where IPS consultants, educational counselors, employment consultants, SSP, youth counselors, business consultants, support contact persons, youth guides, and the initiative work together to create sustainable solutions and get the young people into education or work.
We are anchored in a larger community within the Center for Employment and Citizen Services – a center with about 150 skilled and dedicated employees and leaders who work together on the core task. We believe in dialogue, diversity, and that we achieve the best results together.
Join the team – and help make a difference in the Municipality of Opportunities, which, by the way, was also named Youth Municipality of the Year 2026!
Your mission is to help more young people get closer to education, work, and an independent adult life.
Some young people need more than traditional offers and interventions. They need someone who believes in their possibilities, starts from their own wishes and goals, and stays by their side on the road toward education or work.
Here is where you come in!
As an IPS consultant, you will work from the IPS principles with the young person’s own wishes and motivation as the driving force. The goal is regular education or employment, and the path there is created in close collaboration with the young person, employers, educational institutions, and relevant professional experts around the young person.
Your task
You become part of a multidisciplinary project team, so there are strong colleagues around you, and you are never alone with the task.
As an IPS consultant you will be responsible for a number of young people between 15 and 30 years, whom you follow closely and individually. You meet the young person where they are – both in transfer and in a concrete sense – and you persistently work to translate wishes and resources into concrete opportunities.
You will among other things
- support young people in finding and maintaining ordinary work or education based on their own wishes, resources and goals
- work methodically according to the IPS principles and at the same time be able to adapt your approach to the individual young person
- build a trusting and persistent relationship with the young person
- work proactively and be ready to meet the young people where it makes the most sense
- create contact with companies and educational institutions and find concrete job and education opportunities together with the young person
- also support the young person after starting in job or education, so the transition is as sustainable as possible
- work closely with colleagues and relevant professionals around the young person
- actively contribute to the cross-disciplinary collaboration across employment, social, education, and youth areas
- have an eye for the entire situation of the young person without losing focus on opportunities for work and education.
Who are you?
You fundamentally believe that young people can succeed in education and on the labor market when the effort starts from their own wishes, hopes, and resources.
You are strong in relationship-building and can establish contact with young people who may previously have experienced that the system could not help them further. You are persistent without taking over responsibility from the young person, and you can hold fast to the perspective of job or education – even when the path there is not straightforward.
Since the target group is young people aged 15 to 30, it is important that you have knowledge of working with young people under 18. You understand that the work around the youngest young people requires a special view of their life situation and the framework that applies when the young person is a minor. You can create a good relationship with the young person while also navigating professionally in cooperation with parents, school, educational institutions, and other relevant professionals around the young person.
We imagine that you
- have experience with or good knowledge of working with young people under 18
- understand the special framework and considerations that apply when the young person is a minor
- can involve parents and networks in a relevant way while also maintaining the young person’s own wishes, perspectives and goals as a central starting point
- have experience with or knowledge of IPS – or are willing and able to learn the method thoroughly
- have experience with or knowledge of young people aged 15–30, including preferably young people with complex challenges
- have knowledge of the employment sector and preferably an understanding of the municipal youth initiative (KUI)
- have an eye for the labor market and educational opportunities and can see possibilities for both the younger and older young people
- are strong in relationship-building and can build trust with young people, parents, companies, and other partners
- thrive with proactive outreach and can make direct contact with companies and educational institutions
- can work independently and in a structured way, while also seeing cross-disciplinary collaboration as a prerequisite for success
- have a sharp eye for the young person’s resources, wishes and possibilities
- think of regular paid hours, jobs and education from the beginning of the process
- are creative, curious, and persistent when the first solution does not succeed.
Your educational background may vary, as long as it is relevant to the work. The most important thing is that you have the right professional and personal competencies to work closely, respectfully and purposefully with young people – and that you are comfortable working with the whole age group from 15 to 30 years.
What we offer
You will become part of an ambitious youth initiative, where there is political support to think innovatively and work across boundaries.
You will also have the opportunity to work focused on IPS and contribute to developing the youth initiative in Tårnby and Dragør.
With us you will get
- a strong multidisciplinary environment with dedicated colleagues
- opportunity for professional sparring and development
- freedom with responsibility and the opportunity to shape the task solution
- a working environment focused on psychological safety, dialogue and collaboration
- a daily life where you can see the concrete meaning of your work.
