About the job
Right now, Tårnby Municipality is in the midst of a strengthening of the youth initiative, as we have prioritized creating a more cohesive, present, and effective effort for young people in Tårnby and Dragør.
We have a strong professional foundation. A lot of energy. And a lot to do – therefore we also need you!
We are looking for an IPS consultant who is passionate about making a concrete difference for young people aged 15 to 30, who need a guided and individually tailored pathway toward education or ordinary work.
You will become part of a youth initiative where IPS consultants, education counselors, employment consultants, SSP, youth advisors, company consultants, support contact persons, youth guides and the efforts work together to create sustainable solutions and get the young people into education or work.
We are anchored in a larger community in the Center for Employment and Citizen Services – a center with about 150 skilled and dedicated employees and leaders who work together on the core task. We believe in dialogue, diversity, and that we achieve the best results together.
Join the team – and help make a difference in the Municipality of Opportunities, which is also named the Youth Municipality of the Year 2026!
Your mission is to help more young people get closer to education, employment, and an independent adult life.
Some young people need more than traditional offers and interventions. They need someone who believes in their possibilities, starts from their own wishes and goals, and stays by their side on the path toward education or work.
Here you come into the picture!
As an IPS consultant, you work from the IPS principles with the young person’s own wishes and motivation as the driving force. The goal is regular education or employment, and the path there is created in close collaboration with the young person, companies, educational institutions, and relevant professionals around the young person.
Your task
You become part of a multidisciplinary project team, so there are strong colleagues around you, and you never face the task alone.
As an IPS consultant you will be responsible for a number of young people between 15 and 30 years old, whom you follow closely and individually. You meet the young person where they are – both in a broader and a very concrete sense – and you work persistently to translate wishes and resources into concrete opportunities.
You will, among other things
- support young people in finding and maintaining regular work or education based on their own wishes, resources and goals
- work methodically according to the IPS principles while being able to adapt your approach to the individual young person
- build a trusting and persistent relationship with the young person
- work proactively and be ready to meet the young people where it makes the most sense
- create contact with companies and educational institutions and find concrete job and education opportunities together with the young person
- also support the young person after starting in a job or education, so the transition becomes as sustainable as possible
- work closely with colleagues and relevant professionals around the young person
- actively contribute to the cross-disciplinary cooperation across employment, social, education, and youth areas
- keep an eye on the whole situation of the young person without losing focus on the possibilities for work and education.
Who are you?
You fundamentally believe that young people can succeed in education and in the labor market when the effort starts from their own wishes, hopes, and resources.
You are strong in relationship work and can build contact with young people who may have previously felt that the system could not help them forward. You are persistent without taking over responsibility from the young person, and you can maintain the perspective of work or education – even when the path there is not straightforward.
Because the target group is young people from 15 to 30 years old, it is important that you have knowledge of working with under-18s. You understand that the efforts around the youngest young require a special view of their life situation and the rules that apply when the young person is a minor. You can create a good relationship with the young person while navigating professionally in collaboration with parents, school, educational institutions, and other relevant professionals around the young person.
We imagine that you
- have experience with or good knowledge of working with young people under 18
- understand the special frameworks and considerations that apply when the young person is a minor
- can involve parents and networks relevantly while still maintaining the young person’s own wishes, perspectives, and goals as a central starting point
- have experience with or knowledge of IPS – or have the desire and expertise to learn the method thoroughly
- have experience with young people aged 15–30, including possibly those with complex challenges
- have knowledge of the employment sector and preferably an understanding of municipal youth initiatives (KUI)
- have an eye for the labor market and educational opportunities and can see possibilities for both younger and older youth
- are strong in relationship work and can build trust among young people, parents, companies, and other partners
- thrive with proactive outreach and can take direct contact with companies and educational institutions
- can work independently and in a structured manner, while seeing cross-disciplinary collaboration as a prerequisite for success
- have a sharp eye for the young person’s resources, wishes, and possibilities
- think of regular paid hours, jobs, and education from the beginning of the process
- are creative, curious, and persistent when the first solution does not succeed.
Your educational background can vary, as long as it is relevant to the work. The most important thing is that you have the right professional and personal competencies to work closely, respectfully and purposefully with young people – and that you are comfortable working with the entire age group from 15 to 30 years.
What we offer
You will become part of an ambitious youth initiative with political support to think anew and work across boundaries.
You will also have the opportunity to work focused on IPS and contribute to developing the youth initiatives in Tårnby and Dragør.
With us you will get
- a strong multidisciplinary environment with engaged colleagues
- opportunity for professional sparring and development
- freedom under responsibility and the opportunity to influence how tasks are solved
- an working environment focused on psychological safety, dialogue and collaboration
- a everyday life where you can see the concrete impact of your work.
