IT security advisers for the Agency for Societal Security

Do you want to help protect the state’s classified information? The Agency for Societal Security is seeking IT security advisors for the Office of National Security. We are looking for you who can understand new systems and specific security measures, while also thinking about the bigger picture and the coherence between different security areas.

The Agency for Societal Security works every day for Denmark’s security. The professional areas for emergency planning, critical infrastructure, utilities, telecom, cyber and information security, the National Security Authority, and the National Operational Command (NOC) are consolidated in the Agency for Societal Security. The agency provides advice and communication to authorities, companies and citizens about prevention and handling of the threats the society faces. The agency belongs to the Ministry of Society Security and Emergency Service and consists of about 250 employees.

Your role and your tasks

You will be tasked with advising on, security-approval (accredit) and supervision of classified IT solutions and locations.

The Office conducts approvals of classified IT systems, IT installations and connections between classified systems. Depending on your competences and interests, you will typically either work with system accreditation, where there are fewer but very extensive and technical projects, or installation accreditation, where you typically have several ongoing projects of smaller scope with broad customer contact.

In your daily work you will need to communicate, operationalize and control requirements from the Danish security regulation, EU Council Security Rules and NATO’s rules for handling classified information. You will typically function as the primary contact person for the customer and coordinate the internal processes related to the individual accreditation project.

The office’s accreditation function is in a development phase, where you will have the opportunity to have a strong influence on accreditation processes and workflows. Through your insight and experience you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of effective processes that promote national security.

You will need to work closely with the rest of the office’s subject matter experts within IT security, physical security, technical safeguarding and security advising to help our customers achieve their approvals.

We work closely with both civilian authorities that need to handle classified information, their security offices and suppliers, in international forums and with other national authorities in the security field.

Travel activity will occur as part of the work, as there are installations both domestically and abroad.

About you

We are looking for new colleagues who have a strong insight and understanding of IT and communications technology as well as the risk-based approach to IT and information security. You can understand our customers’ needs and context, understand requirements, systems and processes, and ensure progress in accreditation tasks of varying complexity. You can immerse yourself in detail without losing the overview, and you seek professional sparring with other skilled colleagues, just as you assist them with your expertise.

To succeed in the position we would like you to

• be able to create and maintain an overview of implementation processes to ensure progress for our customers
• have insight into IT security project management in larger organizations
• be able to work structured, both independently and with others
• be able to formulate yourself clearly in writing and in professional discussions at client meetings
• care about the mission of ensuring a high security level and keep the purpose in mind
• find pragmatic solutions that do not compromise security
• contribute to good relations with both customers and colleagues
• be able to translate high-level requirements from other organizations (NATO, EU) into specific requirements in an IT system

It would be advantageous, but not required, if you also have

• experience with accreditation, compliance or certification within ex ISO2700x, CIS, NIS2, NIST or similar
• participated in supervision/audits of IT and information security
• experience with risk management and/or project management
• experience with IT security in an IT operations function

As for education, you may have a master's degree in information technology, studied cybersecurity or IT technology, IT audit, an engineering background or other relevant. You can also apply based on solid experience from IT operations as an IT security advisor or IT developer, or from a compliance or other IT security function. Relevant certifications such as CISM, CISA, CISSP, ITIL, Security+ or ISO27001/2/5 are requested to be stated in the application, but are not a requirement.

Salary and employment terms

Placement will depend on qualifications and experience. Salary and terms of employment are set according to the applicable collective agreement for state employees. The hiring area is the Ministry of Society Security and Emergency Management with its associated institutions. It is a condition of employment that you can be security cleared to the classification level SECRET and maintain the security clearance throughout your employment.

The position is a full-time role.

Your fixed place of work is the Agency for Societal Security, Holsteinsgade 63, 2100 Copenhagen Ø. The agency also has an office in Birkerød.

The position involves both domestic and international travel.

Expected start date is as soon as possible.
