About the job
Do you want to help protect the state's classified information? Do you have broad security understanding of both the technical and organizational aspects, and will you help ensure a high level of cyber and information security in the most classified systems? The Danish Safety Agency (Styrelsen for Samfundssikkerhed) is seeking IT security advisers for the Office of National Security. We are looking for you who can understand new systems and specific security measures while also seeing the bigger picture and the connection between different security areas.
Welcome to
The Danish Safety Agency works every day for Denmark's safety. The subject areas of emergency planning, supply security, critical infrastructure, telecom, cyber- and information security, the national security authority as well as the National Operational Staff (NOST) are brought together in the Danish Safety Agency. The Agency deals with advice and communication to authorities, businesses and citizens about prevention and handling of the threats the society faces. The Agency is part of the Ministry of Domestic Security and Civil Protection and consists of about 250 employees.
Your role and your tasks
You will be tasked with advising on, security accrediting (accredit) and supervising classified IT solutions and locations.
The Office conducts approvals of both classified IT systems, IT installations and connections between classified systems. Depending on your competencies and interest you will typically either work with system accreditation, where there are fewer but very extensive and technical projects, or installation accreditation, where you typically have several ongoing projects of smaller scope with broad customer contact.
In your daily work you will have to communicate, operationalize and control requirements from the Danish security circular, EU's Council Security Rules and NATO's rules for handling classified information. You will typically function as a fixed contact person for the customer and coordinate the internal processes in relation to the individual accreditation project.
The Office's accreditation function is in a building phase, where you will have the opportunity to have great influence on accreditation processes and workflows. Through your insight and experience you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of effective processes that promote national security.
You will have to work closely with the rest of the Office's subject-matter experts within IT security, physical security, technical safeguarding and security advisory to get our customers to achieve their accreditations.
We work closely with both civilian authorities who need to process classified information, their security offices and suppliers, in international forums and with other national authorities within the security area.
Travel activity will occur as part of the work, as there are installations both domestically and abroad.
About you
We are looking for new colleagues who have strong insight and understanding of IT and communication technology as well as for the risk-based approach to IT and information security. You can understand our customers' needs and context, understand requirements, systems and processes and ensure progress in accreditation tasks of varying complexity. You can immerse yourself in detail without losing the overview, and you seek professional sparring with other skilled colleagues, just as you assist them with your expertise.
To succeed in the position we would like you to
- can create and maintain an overview of implementation processes to ensure progress for our customers
- have insight into project management of IT security in larger organizations
- can work in a structured manner, both independently and with others
- can articulate clearly in writing and in professional discussions in customer meetings
- are concerned with the mission to ensure a high level of security and keep the purpose in mind
- find pragmatic solutions that do not compromise security
- contribute to the good relationship with both customers and colleagues
- can translate high-level requirements from other organizations (NATO, EU) into specific requirements in an IT system
It would be an advantage, but not a requirement, if you also have
- worked with accreditation, compliance or certification within ex ISO2700x, CIS, NIS2, NIST or similar
- participated in supervision/audits of IT and information security
- worked with risk management and/or project management
- worked with IT security in an IT operations function
Regarding education you may have a master's degree in information technology, studied cyber security or IT technology, IT auditing, an engineering background or other relevant. You can also apply on the basis of solid experience from IT operations, as IT security adviser or IT developer, or from a compliance or other IT security function. Relevant certifications such as CISM, CISA, CISSP, ITIL, Security+ or ISO27001/2/5 are requested to be stated in the application, but are not required.
You become part of the Danish Safety Agency under the Ministry of Domestic Security and Civil Protection. You can read more about the ministry and the agency here: https://mssb.dk/ministeriet.
