HK Privat is seeking an experienced press officer who can strengthen our visibility and impact in the media and contribute to our political advocacy.

About the job

You will drive HK Privats press efforts and play a central role in HK Privats communications efforts. Here you will work closely with the sector chair and vice-chair, the professional leadership and colleagues across HK. Therefore you must be outgoing and enjoy building relationships across the organisation.

Your main tasks will be to

• find, develop and pitch stories to national media and put HK Privat on the agenda
• advise and media-train the chair and vice-chair and prepare them for interviews, panel debates, presentations and other public appearances
• coordinate HK Privats press work, answer press inquiries and develop press plans, press releases etc.
• build and maintain relationships with journalists and other stakeholders who cover the labor market in HK Privats areas
• write opinion pieces, commentaries, speeches, LinkedIn posts and other content that support HK Privats strategic narratives
• collaborate with HK Privats local branches and elected representatives and advise them on press handling when local/ regional stories attract national attention
• plan HK Privats member surveys in collaboration with an analysis bureau and translate the results into press and political communication
• keep an eye on and respond to relevant agendas in traditional and social media.

You will also participate in relevant communication collaborations across the trade union movement.

The position includes press duty, including outside normal working hours.

About you

We especially value that you

• have a journalistic or communications background and solid experience with press and strategic communication – preferably from a professional, political or other advocacy organization
• know the rhythms and logics of the media and understand the interplay between media, politics and advocacy
• can spot stories and pick up the phone to get relevant journalists interested
• have experience with advising, which you provide confidently and credibly. You must be able to challenge when necessary and maintain overview when a matter develops quickly
• can respond quickly to daily news and work strategically and long-term with the agendas HK Privat wishes to set
• have good political understanding and interest in the labor market and the Danish model
• thrive with independent responsibility while being a strong team player.

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement with the Journalist Club in HK.
