About the job
Would you like to help create meaningful activities and communities for people with dementia and their relatives, while also contributing to developing new offerings in the field?
Demenscenter Odsherred is seeking an engaged employee with a relevant health-, social- or pedagogical education for our Day and Activity Service in Vig.
We imagine that you are an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, social- and health worker, pedagogue, or have another relevant education and experience that can be used in work with people with dementia. You are motivated by creating meaningful activities, relationships and communities and thrive in a daily life close to the citizens. Regardless of your professional background, we expect you to actively use your competencies and translate them into actions that support wellbeing, participation and quality of life for people with dementia.
Who are we?
Demenscenter Odsherreds Day and Activity Service is a service for home-living citizens with dementia. We work every day to create a safe and meaningful offering where citizens experience community, activity, recognisability and joy of life.
The Day and Activity Service is part of Demenscenter Odsherred, which consists of several specialized services for people with dementia and their relatives. We collaborate closely across professional groups and functions, and we are focused on continuously developing our offerings so that they match citizens’ needs.
Join us to strengthen and develop the dementia field in Odsherred
Odsherred Municipality is expanding its dementia efforts, and we are looking for staff who want to help shape and develop future offerings. In addition to the daily work in our Day and Activity Service, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of, among other things, CST programs, exercise and training offerings, and other meaningful communities for people with dementia and their relatives. We want a colleague who is curious, development-oriented and motivated by translating professional ideas into practice .
Most of your working hours will be in the “Day and Activity Service.” Here you will become an important part of an interdisciplinary team that plans and implements the day’s activities together while ensuring that each citizen experiences safety, participation and community. It is therefore important to us that you enjoy meeting the citizens and find meaning in creating good days together with them.
The work in the “Day and Activity Service” is largely group-based. Together with your colleagues, you will help create frameworks where citizens experience participation, community and the possibility to contribute based on their own resources and prerequisites. An important part of the task is to create a validating environment where each citizen meets with respect, understanding and curiosity. We want the citizens to feel seen, heard and meaningful, and to be part of a community where there is room for both individual needs and shared activities.
You should therefore be able to build relationships and contribute to an atmosphere characterized by safety, presence and positive experiences. This requires that you can read group dynamics, adapt activities and support the individual citizen to participate on their own terms. We focus on supporting citizens’ resources and maintaining functional abilities as long as possible. Therefore, activities and socializing are never an end in themselves, but a way to strengthen wellbeing, participation and quality of life.
We work with both joint activities, smaller groups and individual interventions when meaningful for the individual citizen. The day is shaped continuously according to the people present and the needs they bring with them. There will also be tasks such as support and assistance with toilet visits, setting up and serving meals, and other practical tasks that contribute to creating a safe and well-functioning day for the citizens. We help each other across tasks and see all work tasks as an important part of the overall effort around the citizens.
We are looking for you who
We imagine that you have a relevant health-, social- or pedagogical education and have an interest in, or experience with, working with people with dementia. You are good at building relationships and have an eye for the individual person’s resources, needs and possibilities for participation in the community.
You work independently, take responsibility for your tasks and thrive in a daily life where planned activities go hand in hand with the unforeseen situations that naturally arise in working with people. At the same time you see the value in strong collegial collaboration and contribute positively to the community, both internally in the team and in collaboration with relatives and other partners.
We are looking for a colleague who can plan, implement and evaluate activities that translate their professional knowledge into practice, and who communicates clearly and respectfully with both citizens, relatives and colleagues. In addition, we value reliability, responsibility and engagement highly.
Documentation is a natural part of our everyday life. You must therefore have solid IT competencies and preferably experience with CURA or similar documentation systems.
Why choose us
With us you get a position with daytime working hours on weekdays, which provides good opportunities for balance between work and private life.
You will become part of a specialized field with high professional standards and dedicated colleagues who together hold extensive experience and knowledge about the dementia field. We place emphasis on collaboration, sparring and knowledge sharing, and you will experience a workplace where helpfulness and community are a natural part of the culture.
We offer good opportunities for professional development and to shape developments of both existing and new offerings. At the same time, you will have a daily life where relationships, wellbeing and quality of life for people with dementia are at the center of everything we do.
