About the job

Get insight into the engine room of the health service and put your legal knowledge to use. Are you a law student and interested in working with health policy? As a student assistant in the Danish Health Authority's Education Unit, you will get a unique opportunity to dive into the structures and processes that shape the future of the healthcare system.

About Education

You will become part of a unit of about 20 staff with many different professional backgrounds. Your colleagues include, among others, nurses, doctors, secretaries, data specialists and social scientists. We work with decisions, quality assurance and rule development in the health and education regulation areas, with a particular focus on further education and competency development for health personnel.

We are for instance responsible for specialist medical training, including the inspectorate system and the distribution of clinical foundation doctors. We also handle tasks related to dentists' and nurses' specialist trainings, psychologists' practical training and specialist training, paramedics, as well as a number of other professional groups and training areas. In addition, we have tasks under the Health Act, including related to highly specialized treatment of Danish patients abroad.

Your daily life with us

As a student assistant you will be an active part of our unit and will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of legal tasks. You will gain experience with concrete authority work, decisions and the regulation that sets the framework for education of health professionals in the health service. You will, among other things, be able to work with:

  • tasks related to concrete case handling and an overview of the Danish Health Authority's decision-making practices
  • work with regulations, guidelines and other rules, including legal assistance in connection with the development and interpretation of the rules
  • first drafts of legal notes on, among other things, administrative law questions and rules.

You will primarily work under the supervision of the unit's lawyer and will have the opportunity to follow and handle concrete cases yourself. At the same time you will be part of a multidisciplinary environment where you collaborate closely with, among others, doctors and nurses and use your legal expertise to qualify the overall case processing.

We know that law study requires time and planning – and we therefore prioritise that the working hours (10 hours per week) are adjusted to your schedule. Work takes place during daytime on weekdays between 8 am and 4 pm but with flexibility during exam periods.

With us you have the opportunity to combine your studies with practically oriented legal experience in an authority that helps shape the framework for the health personnel who make up the future health service.

Your education, experience and personal qualifications

We are looking for someone who

  • is a law student and has an interest in authority work, education and the health service
  • thrives in a busy and professionally curious environment with a desire to work with a wide range of legal issues
  • is structured, proactive and good at collaborating
  • is well written and can convey legal issues clearly and precisely
  • has a sense of both detail and the bigger picture and wants to bring your legal expertise into play in a cross-disciplinary environment
  • wants to gain greater insight into both the Danish health service and the Danish Health Authority's role.

It is an advantage if you have completed the first years of the law study and have a solid foundation in legal method. However, the most important is that you are eager to learn and ready to gradually take on independent legal tasks.

We offer

An exciting workplace with varied and challenging tasks, where you will have the opportunity to gain experience with legal authority work and gain insight into a wide range of issues in the health service. You will work with capable colleagues in a diligent and multidisciplinary work environment. Our everyday life is energetic, social, informal and characterized by a strong focus on professional commitment and mutual respect and short paths from questions to action.
