CHURCH CUSTODIAN WANTED – ARE YOU HANDY WITH YOUR HANDS?

Do you have a sense for people, order and practical tasks – and would you like to become an important part of our church?

As one of our church custodians is retiring, we are seeking an engaged and responsible colleague. We are an active

church with services and religious ceremonies as well as many events for both families with children and

elderly people. As a church custodian you will be one of the first people our churchgoers and visitors meet. Therefore we place emphasis

on being approachable, calm and eager to meet many different people.

Who are you?

We are looking for either a trained church custodian or a person who would like to take the obligatory 5-week

church custodian training within the first 2 years of employment.

We imagine that you

• are independent, responsible and good at planning your workday in collaboration with our other

church custodian

• have a sense for order and good practical hands-on skills
• enjoy both fixed routines and days where plans change
• meet people with openness and respect
• work well with the church staff, our three priests and the parish council
• can work independently and take responsibility that tasks are completed

If you have a craft background or experience with maintenance and practical tasks, that is a

great advantage.

As a church custodian you help create good conditions for the church's life and activities. The tasks include among others:

• cleaning and maintenance
• purchasing and practical planning
• preparation and tidying up for events
• setup and moving of tables and chairs
• practical tasks around the church and its premises, including snow removal and lawn mowing

In addition you will be part of the church's many services, religious ceremonies, events and

holy days.

A job with variety

The work follows the rhythm of the church, and some tasks therefore take place in the afternoon, evening or at weekends.

There is always a church custodian present at funerals, weddings and high mass, just as there are services for Christmas,

Easter and other holy days as well as for festive services, receptions and concerts.

There is full and mutual on-call obligation among the church custodians during holidays, days off, illness and courses.

We help each other and place emphasis on a good and flexible collaboration.

The position is 37 hours per week with work every 2nd weekend and on public holidays. Start date: 1 January or

by agreement.

Employment terms

The employment is covered by the Central Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees' Organisations (OAO-S) and the Organizational Agreement for church functionaries with core tasks as church custodian or the agreement between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and the Danish Church Custodians' Association and the corresponding protocol for church custodians. Current civil servant church custodians have the right to preserve their civil servant status when employed with direct transition. In that case a classification of the position must take place.

If the obligatory 5 weeks of education for church custodians has not previously been completed, it must be done within 2 years after the start of employment. Discussed in connection with the employment.

Annual salary is agreed for a full-time appointment within the interval 324,667 - 408,841 DKK (current Danish kroner).

There is on-call obligation to the position. The on-call allowance amounts for full-time employment to 33,231 DKK (current Danish kroner) per year.

OK allowance likewise for full-time employment of 1,401 DKK (current Danish kroner) per year.

All mentioned rates are for a full-time position.

Pension according to agreement.

An agreement on placement within the salary range is made between the parish council and the Danish Church Custodians' Association.

When employed, a Child Certificate will be requested.
