About the job

Kolt-Hasselager Daycare Center is seeking an educational leader who wants to make a difference for children, staff and the pedagogical practice.

We look forward to welcoming a new leadership colleague to Kolt-Hasselager Daycare. The most important for us is that you want to lead and are motivated to persevere. You will receive a mentor and a committed leadership team that will help you settle into the role and support you in developing as a leader.

We are looking for you who are motivated by creating good conditions for staff to succeed in their most important task: to create good days, strong relationships and developing learning environments for the children.

With us you do not need to know everything from day one. You will become part of a leadership team where we spar, challenge each other and stand together on the task.

Olympia – a physically large house with space for professionalism and community

Olympia is a large and elegant house with good facilities for both children and adults. The building is normed for 30 preschool children and 17 infant children and has an engaged staff group of educators and assistants.

In Olympia there is good structure and clarity in everyday life. It gives the children recognizability and creates favorable conditions so that both children and adults can focus on what matters.

We work purposefully with the pedagogical learning environments and with creating good participation opportunities for all children. We are concerned with how the adults position themselves, how we organise everyday life, and how our pedagogical choices give the children the opportunity to be part of the community.

We also deliberately work on the children's linguistic prerequisites. For us, work with children's reading and learning prerequisites begins long before school start – among other things through books, conversations and adults who are linguistic role models.

As a leader you will have a staff group that can and will. We expect the employees to take responsibility for the pedagogical practice, bring their professionalism into play and be curious about how we can always do it even better.

You will not lead alone

Olympia is part of Kolt-Hasselager Daycare, which consists of eight integrated institutions.

We are a leadership team that helps each other, takes joint responsibility and stands together – even when the task is difficult. We believe that good leadership is about standing clearly in one's own leadership and being part of a committed community. With us there is room for different leadership styles and personalities, but a shared ambition to be professionally strong, decent and clear leaders.

We work closely with practice and use, among other things, data, observations, feedback and knowledge from independent supervision to become wiser about our pedagogical work. And we have a simple question that often helps us find the direction: What benefits the child?

Your most important task

As an educational leader at Olympia you must be close to both children, staff and the pedagogical practice.

You must create clear direction and ensure that our pedagogical ambitions can be felt in everyday life.

You will among other things

  • set a direction for the pedagogical practice and follow up on it
  • support staff's professional development through sparring, feedback and reflection
  • create good frameworks for working with relationships and learning environments
  • have an eye for all children's participation opportunities
  • ensure a well-functioning structure and stable operations
  • be visible and present in the building
  • collaborate with the parents and the parents' council
  • take responsibility for finances, personnel, maintenance and daily operations.

You will thus be both the one who stands for daily operations and the one who, together with the staff, develops the pedagogical quality.

We imagine that you

  • Bring the children with you in your leadership.
  • Have a clear view of children and can translate it into concrete choices in everyday life.
  • Are interested in pedagogy and dare to ask questions about practice – even when it means we have to do something in a new way.
  • Can set direction, communicate clearly and at the same time be listening and open to staff perspectives.
  • Can create structure and overview.
  • Thrive with leadership that covers people, pedagogy and operations – and you can make things hang together.
  • Can create followership.
  • Know that staff should not only be informed about development but be an active part of it.
  • Have courage for leadership.

Perhaps you already have leadership experience. Perhaps you have been a mentor, professional lighthouse, deputy or held other roles where you have tested leadership. The most important for us is that you want and have the potential to take the next step.

What you get with us

You will have the opportunity to become a leader in a day care where we

  • stand together on the leadership task
  • have a mentor scheme for new leaders
  • prioritize professional sparring and development
  • work systematically with quality in the pedagogical practice
  • focus on psychological safety and strong working communities
  • believe that we become better when we learn together.

You will also become part of the larger community in Aarhus Municipality’s Children and Youth, where we work across disciplines and leadership levels.

In Aarhus Municipality we put the children at the center

We want to give all children and young people the best conditions for learning, developing and thriving. This requires strong learning communities and cross-disciplinary cooperation among the adults around the child.

In Aarhus Municipality you become part of a culture of collaboration, where data, knowledge and experiences are used so that everyone has the opportunity to learn together from each other and with each other across professions, staff and management levels. We believe that children and young people do what they can. Children are not the problem, but they reveal the problem. In Aarhus Municipality the adults take responsibility for learning, development and well-being for all children and young people.
