CONTACT PERSON FOR A WOMAN WITH REDUCED VISION AND HEARING – VEJEN

On behalf of Vejen Municipality we are seeking a contact person for a woman in her 70s who has both vision loss and hearing loss (i.e., is functionally deafblind).

Communication is via clear and direct speech.

The work takes place primarily three hours once a week. In addition, 250 extra hours per year have been allocated for various activities beyond the weekly hours. There will be one more person on the task who also has three fixed hours per week.

In addition, 13-23 hours per year are set aside for you for training and meetings with the deafblind consultant .

The woman uses a wheelchair, which you must be able to push.

Job tasks

The tasks mainly consist of accompaniment in connection with

• walks (in a wheelchair)
• shopping, doctor visits, etc.
• outings into nature, visits to restaurants and cafes or other experiences.

In addition, there will be reading of mail, magazines, newspapers, etc., and general conversation and companionship.

In the tasks you must

• accompany and describe the surroundings where you move (visual description)
• be the link to the surroundings
• support communication as needed.

If you do not already know about accompaniment and visual description, we will of course teach you.

Training

Training takes place with the citizen themselves and through instruction, teaching and supervision by CFD's deafblind consultants. You will as mentioned also be invited to participate in paid courses and theme days, where you can also meet other contact persons.

There will be an opportunity for training together with the other contact person on the task.

Before you start work, you must complete an e-learning course (total about 2.5 hours), which provides an introduction to the job. This training takes place on your own computer, and you will be paid for it.
