About the job

Do you want to create teaching where students develop academically, use their voice, and experience that they have an important place in the school community?

Our good colleague has sought new challenges. Therefore we are looking for a teacher of Danish, Christian Studies and History in 6th grade, English in 8th grade, as well as two-teacher hours in the middle and upper levels.

Community first

Præstegårdsskolen is located in Esbjerg Ø and has a diverse student body with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We work from a shared ambition that all students should belong, be able to contribute, and feel part of something larger than themselves.

We are in the process of developing Præstegårdsskolen with a particular focus on democracy, student involvement and strong communities. Students should gain experience in using their voice, listening to others, and taking part in decisions and joint actions. This should be felt in the teaching and in the daily life of the school – for example through dialogue, class meetings, feedback and collaboration on questions that matter to the students.

We meet the students with high expectations and the support, care and structure they need. At the same time, we want to connect teaching with the world around the school, so students see their opportunities to participate and contribute to society.

Your tasks

You will teach

  • Danish, Christian Studies and History in 6th grade.
  • English in 8th grade.
  • Two-teacher hours in the middle and upper levels.
  • There can also be hours related to MIL (Targeted Inclusive Learning Communities)

In the two-teacher hours you collaborate with colleagues on teaching that gives more students the opportunity to participate and succeed. We work, among other things, with co-teaching and group work based on the students’ needs.

Your subjects offer good opportunities to work with perspectives, attitudes, culture and society. Therefore, we are looking for a colleague who wants to combine clear academic goals with the students’ curiosity and active participation.

We are looking for you who

  • Are a trained teacher with teaching competencies or experience in the mentioned subjects.
  • Create clear frameworks and safe relationships.
  • Involve students’ perspectives and give them real opportunities to influence and take responsibility.
  • Can create respectful conversations where students practice disagreeing and listening to each other.
  • Have an eye for how all students can have a place and contribute to the community.
  • Are keen on close collaboration with colleagues and parents about the students’ learning and well-being.

With us you become part of the school's development

We offer a collegial community where we help each other, share experiences and develop our practice together. You will have the opportunity to leave your mark on a school that works purposefully with academic excellence, participation and shared responsibility.

We do not expect you to have all the answers. We want a colleague who is curious about the students, reflects on their own teaching and wants to develop the school together with us.
