About the job
Are you passionate about waste management, waste facilities and regulations? At Nordværk we are seeking a specialist who has a strong interest in the waste sector and a solid professional background. You will take a highly central role in the daily work to ensure an efficient and environmentally sound operation of our landfills, where you translate complex legal requirements into practical actions in a rapidly evolving industry.
About the job
Landfills are technical facilities regulated by complex national and European legal requirements. At the landfills we receive waste that cannot be recycled or energy-recovered. This places high demands on waste reception and plant operation.
You will become a key person in the Division for Treatment Plants and, with direct reporting to the Division Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that our landfills at all times comply with the complex legislation in the field. You will work closely with the two department heads for landfill and environmental facilities, operations and professional responsible staff, as well as other professional functions across Nordværk, including the environmental department and the finance function.
You will have an exciting and varied day-to-day, contributing to the development of future treatment and landfill solutions. You will work systematically and efficiently with optimization and advising colleagues, managers and executives within the landfill area.
The area is narrow and knowledge sharing occurs at the national level. It is therefore important that you are able to build networks and be proactive.
Your tasks include, among others
✓ Drive professional development and implementation of initiatives in the landfill area
✓ Advise operations on landfilling from a technical, environmental and legal focus
✓ Participate in network meetings nationwide regarding landfilling
✓ Project management of, for example, the construction of PFAS plants and expansions of the landfill
✓ Analyze and translate new legislation and authority requirements into practice and professional direction
✓ Collaborate with authorities, advisers and other external partners
✓ Contribute to decisions on handling and disposal of special waste fractions
✓ Support development and further development of SRO solutions in the landfill area
✓ Contribute to the preparation of procedures, instructions and professional standards
✓ Prepare reports to authorities
About you
We imagine that you have a relevant advanced education such as a MSc in Environmental Science/Chemistry, a Master of Laws with a focus on environmental law, or similar, and preferably experience from the waste, environmental or utility sector.
Experience with landfill operation is an advantage, but most important is your desire to develop professionally.
In addition, we imagine that you
✓ Have an interest in the waste area, environmental regulation and technical solutions
✓ Possess expertise that enables you to grasp complex material
✓ Have strong analytical abilities and can translate complex issues into concrete solutions
✓ Work independently and take responsibility for your tasks
✓ Have good collaboration and communication skills
✓ Are curious, proactive and motivated by both operations and development
✓ Can build relationships and trust among colleagues, authorities and partners
We offer
You will hold a key position with a high degree of professional influence on the development of our landfills and become a central part of working with complex environmental, professional and technical issues. You will have opportunities for both professional and personal development in an organization with high climate and environmental ambitions, while collaborating broadly across the organization and with external partners.
We also offer flexibility in daily work, including the possibility of remote work when duties allow.
At Nordværk we work based on the values integrity, collaboration, professionalism and sustainability. They reflect in everyday life, and we place emphasis on your willingness to live by them in practice. As part of our focus on well-being and a good working environment we have smoke-free working hours.
Salary and employment terms
✓ Start date: January 1, 2027
✓ The position is a permanent full-time role at 37 hours per week
✓ Salary according to qualifications and applicable collective agreement
✓ The primary workplace is at our landfill and environmental facilities at Halsvej 74 in Rærup, Vodskov. Since we have several locations in North Jutland, you can expect work days at other locations.
